2009 American Stratocaster HSS

hi i have issue with the S1 switch middle pickup configuration where S1 switch when pressed down looses gain and there is a very thin sound from the guitar. .the dealer showed it to the guys he had bought the guitar from ,they came to a resolution that the S1 switch and the middle pickup are not working properlyAfter getting the parts from the US which took about 2 months and then putting back the new parts the issue have cropped up again with the same problem with the s1 switch when pressed down in the middle position leads to thin sound.rest positions when s1 not pressed down are working properly.please help with the issue cause no one can identify the problem here in INDIA.

I don't think I can solve the problem, but I'll start the diagnose path for members wiser than me

First of all, does this fit your guitar: American Deluxe HSS Wiring

On S1 down, switch position 3 (middle) you should have "(A+B)/C"; that's all pickups on in series. If that sounds thin, it IMHO points to pickup phase issues. Does your guitar have original pickups? (Originals should be a DH-1 and two SCN's).

There is no guitar tech in you area ?
The dealer must find what is wrong before ordering S1

Answer to jmattis, is the guitar is original, no mods ?
Did you hear the guitar play well before this issue ?

Does the middle pickup work properly without engaging the S1 switch?

This diagnosing is going to be a pain in the ash, via internet and without pics of the wiring... And: I'm no expert on guitar electronics.

But some freeflowing thoughts for pointers:
1. If everything works as it should in the S1 Off position, that would point to a fault in the S1 switch. Push/push switches in general are a bit delicate (IMHO), and the S1 is a complicated one - so even two faulty ones in a row isn't impossible.
2. But two faulty switches is unlikely. So: the AmDlx HSS wiring in general is complicated - even Fender has the AmDlx HSS 2010 version wrong (corrected in pages 6 and on). If the guitar has had some (re)wiring done by the guys the dealer bought it from, mistakes in the wiring are not out of the question.

The S1 and the wiring can be tested, but you need a tech who knows his/her/its job. I'm sure there are good guitar repair shops in India - you could ask Fender for authorized service/dealers closest to you.
BTW, a two months waiting time for parts seems way too long - did you get any explanation for it?
