Let me just say sorry for all the mystery Strats
I sold this to my Daughter In Law's sister a few years ago

The neck is a standard MZ10 ser # The body looks to be Fiesta Red ?? and has a three way switch instead of the five way
Single ply white guard
Have yet to look under the hood, however the pickups sound Alnico to me
I'll update when i restring and pull the guard

Been so ignorant of Fenders past 2009/10, take this with a pinch of salt. Cos I don't know if it's still the same.
Shouldn't the twelfth fret dots be near directly under the B and A strings?
Could that be a MightyMite neck?

Those dots look consistent with a Fender neck from then. Just slightly inboard of the strings.

Correct.

The MIM Classic Series Strats (pseudo-reissues of guitars from the '50s, '60s, and '70s) were not introduced until 1998 and their 12th fret dot spacing was correctly rendered to replicate a vintage instrument.

Eight screw pick guard and 3 position switch would make it a 50's copy.

So do you guys think this might be a 50's classic MIM body ?
The pickups look like the ones used in the classic vibe squier series

How about contacting Fender with the serial number, they have records to about 1993. You'd get the specs for the guitar as it left the factory.
That's consumerrelations@fender.com

AFAIK the MIM Classic series 50's was available in Fiesta Red around the MZ1 + five/six digits era, that's 2001-2002.
And I believe you're right, those pups came from a Classic Vibe - and as a side remark, they're not bad at all. Further, the Sprague cap suggests whoever did the mods was serious

Pretty sure its a Classic Vibe with a standard MIM neck

It did sound great !

Also some pushback cloth wire too in the circuit

I do like the Fiesta Red !!!

Craziest thing about this guitar is that if I balance the three way switch to the quack positions it is noiseless
as in the middle pickup must be reverse wound, so the question arises, why put a reverse wound middle pup in a guitar with a three way selector ???
Or did the modder that did the cap change also install a three way ?
Nice solder work by the way !

Well i installed a new 5 way switch since the three way in it was sorta dumb, I mean if your gonna have a reverse wound middle pickup and noise canceling in the Quack positions then a five way is kinda the way to go eh !

A less than 2 minute youtube simply showing the sound of this guitar directly into my Super reverb
Yes the man cave is still under construction

Just out of curiosity, did you get an answer from Fender & what was the final outcome, Partscaster or a MIM?

PS: On your other guitar in the Tele section (the one previously with the green pearloid pick&arm guards): it's looking a lot healthier now
