It looks like they've toned down the simulated wear-and-tear of the body as well -- much more realistic.

Congrats on the recent additions to your family, shimmi. Very cool looking guitar.

I'm curious about the S1 options and how they compare to the American Deluxe models. How would you describe the tone of the neck pickup with the S1 engaged? It's the only one I'd say is unusable on my American Deluxe. Well, at least I haven't found a use for it yet. :-)

Cheers!

I can't believe we are on the second page of this thread without any one saying it. Okay, I'll be the one...

Ummm, where are the PICTURES, dude???? (and, yes -- if you were wondering -- the stock Sweetwater pics don't count)

Those are pics of my guitar. Sweetwater takes pictures of each individual guitar offered for sale, they send pictures of the guitar via email after purchase, and their pictures are much better than mine. Just one of the many things that Sweetwater does that make them the best. :D

With the S1 on, each position sounds beefier, without getting muddy. The articulation is great, all positions very usable and sustain is terrific. I tried it out today through a MB TA15 and a Dr Z 2x10 cab, and the neck with S1 on is dreamy on the clean channel, smooth and powerful on the distorted channel. I can't say enough good things about this guitar, and I can get so many sweet, usable tones, it is a joy to play. :D On my Am Dlx, I like the "passing lane switch" position, full unburdened hum-bucker. The S1 is much more usable on the Elite as compared to the Dlx.

Thanks for making the comparison, shimmi. Good news for the S1 ON in the Neck Position.

Cheers!

I agree...Nice Score...What to play First!

I wanted to see opinions on the Am Elite Strat...this is the thread!

In the Fender pics..the body's curves looks.."sculpted" differently...

...(like a tighter radius on the curves of the body?)...

..any first hand impressions shimmilou?

...and that Road Worn neck...is eyecatching...

Yes, the edges of the Elite body are gently rounded, not too much, but enough that the edges are not square at all. For the last couple of days, I have been playing acoustics, but I'll get back to the Elite soon. I have to try it out with other amps/speakers, 2 down and......a bunch to go. 8)

...ever more intriguing...a reason to visit the Git stores...

...my complaint with the Deluxe bodies was their boxy.."sturdy"..design...

...that's used in..well...Axes & suchlike

It needed slimming & contouring...IMHO...YMMV

Congradulations on your new guitar.

I got my Deluxe Strat Plus through Sweetwater. They are a great bunch of people. They sent me beautiful color photos, cold weather unpacking instructions and the guitar played wonderfully out of the box.

Fender is doing some really amazing work these days. The finishes are amazing! Locking tuners, compound radius neck and N3 pickups are make the Deluxe Series great guitars. I'm sure that the Elite Series is even better.

I'm still jazzed about my Dlx Strat Plus. The personality cards make the guitar so versitile. I just got two more, for a total of five.

If you get the chance, post a video.

My curiosity,
Do you find the "all low post locking" tuning keys are an improvement over the "staggered locking" of the past version? Do you think the string tree is still required for the B/E to get a more stable break angle?
Thanks and three vey nice acquisitions...

Idk if the tree is still necessary, but i do like the locking tuners. Being as how they are locking tuners, a tall post is really unnecessary.
