Guitar center has been advertising it's july 'Strat-a-thon' .A big sale on fenders this month I guess. They announced that the Lonestar Strat is going to be back.has anyone tried this Strat? Any hands on review of this? Do they come in single coils fully. The one in their pic shows a humbucker at the bridge.

there was a review of the roadhouse and lonestar strats in last months guitar buyer magazine. their both about the same price and both got a good write up. 5/5 value for money 4/5 for everything else. They are part of the mexican deluxe range which according to the review come in all varieties

I would say that you are looking at an SSH vs SSS configuration in essentially the same guitar with subtle variation in electronics. Check out the specs and compare.

Subtle variation ???

The single coils are texas specials and the humbucker is a Pearly gates.

See billy gibons (ZZ Top)

not exactly subtle.

I will be willing to bet as soon as a few players get these in hand, we will be hearing some rave reviews.

rockers and blues guys are gonna love the new lonestar !!!!

OK! OK!.....have it your way...for the 'burgerman' who prefer a little chili on his bun.....one will have a "Pearly Gates" at the bridge in place of a Texas Special;

Thumbs up on the Lone Star Strat!
I got the fever for a new strat when I played a Roadhouse and I loved it...
Then I read about the Lonestar strat and went and played that...
Once again, I loved it (u gotta love those pickups). Good guitar for the money as well!
But then I spent more time on the subject & up sold myself all the way to an American Deluxe FMT HSS Strat
During my time making payments I fell in love with an American Standard Stratocaster® HSS (Sienna Sunburst, Rosewood with Ash body) & so now I am buying both!

I went back to revisit each strat I have been looking at & played them again (still paying $$ on mine).
That included alot of strats but mainly:
Highway One (mia) - Thumbs up!
Roadhouse (mim) - Thumbs up!
Lone Star (mim) - Thumbs up!

Today I was at GC actually playing a highway 1... I have definately confirmed that I am making the right choice even though it's alot of $$ and I have to wait till I pay them off. I still got my 93 sunburst strat (mia) for now though...

Thumbs up on the Lone Star, but that sienna with the ash body feels and plays better... just all around better than the mim strats & yes! better than the Highway One as well... & yes i am very aware of that guitar & have played it several times now, grease bucket and the thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish and all that...
2 Thumbs up for the my new Sienna with the Ash body! :)
The only one I havent compared it to was the Made in Korea Lite Ash Strat which only comes in maple fret board & i prefer Rosewood mostly anyway. What can I say there wasn't one anywhere around here I could play.

I am pretty sure a lonestar will be in my near future.

I am really getting into very early ZZ top stuff lately and I really think the lonestar will do just fine there, although a Tele with a hot bridge pup would be cool too.

I own a olympic white MIA Lone Star Strat with rosewood fret board since
1997.

Yep, 2 Texas Special and 1 Seymore Duncan Pearly Gates HB

For me I love the warm tone of this guitar, handling and I'm hope I right the 12" fretboard.
Dry she sound loud so I exercise without an amp when I want to.
Also she has the swimming pool mill, so you have the choice to modify
a lot.
What I have done this year is the change from the Pearly Gates to
SD JB SH-4 HB for more Power. The specials and the JB SH-4 is good
combination.

Check it out. Cheers :D

I bought the Lonestar strat 5 days ago, and returned it this morning. Really bummed. It's a great guitar at a great value, but I could not keep it in tune for the life of me. I love the HSS w/SD Pearly Gates; guitar gets a nice gritty sound. The neck is tinted maple w/rosewood fingerboard - very smooth, and plays nicely. I just couldn't keep it tuned. I don't know a lot about setting up a guitar - maybe I was doing something wrong, or maybe I just got a bad one. I would still recommend it, but I'd watch the tuning.
