Recently Fender came out with Vintage 60's single coil strat pickups for their Hendrix guitar. I am wondering if anyone could tell me the difference between the Vintage 60's single coil pickups and the custom shop 69 strat pickups. The description seems exactly the same on the website. Any suggests or feedback on either of these compared or separate would be fantastic.
thank you.

I think the New Hendrix model has reverse stagger pickups.
Comparing the standard vintage 65 and the CS 69 there is a slight difference in resistance and inductance. This will lead to a subtle difference in tone due to output and resonant frequency. :D

The Pure Vintage '65s are normal stagger.

The American Vintage '65s (if they are the same pickup) fitted to the Hendrix are just reverse mounted so a right handed player gets the same effect as a lefty playing a reverse strung right-handed guitar.

The subtle description change may suggest they are not entirely identical. There is a lot of debate about the Custom Shop '69s and the '69s fitted to the Classic Player Strat. The rumor is the Custom Shop versions are US wound and the Classic Players are Mexican.

Ah so that explains it. Do you know if there is any additional routing to accommodate the orientation of the pickups or is it just hsh? :D

Same size pickup routs as a MiM Standard with a difference, the middle and neck routs are inverted/upside down to accommodate the shape of the pickup bobbin.

Just a comment about Classic Player Stratocaster pickups. They are real Custom Shop US version, at least in my guitar. I have checked and they have the right Custom Shop stickers and the right signature on the backside.

Hey thats unusual. Custom shop pickups installed at the factory normally do not carry the stickers and it is only the after market ones that do.
Did you buy it new?
I have never had a classic player or any mim with CS pickups though so never say never!
You should be easily able to tell if they were the original since the soldering will look undisturbed. Do you have any closeup pics of the solder job? :D

I´m sorry I don´t have any close up pics just now, but the soldering looked original to me and I do a lot of soldering myself. I think that the Classic Player how are design by Custom Shop can have Custom Shop pickups. I have a set of Custom Shop Fat 50´ that I have put in another Stratocaster, so I know how Custom Shop pickups look like.

Fantastic on all replies. Thank you.
Yes, it seems like the vintage 65 and the CS are really the same pickups.
It would be great to have the side by side sound test. Wonder if there would be any difference.
Thanks again all.

I have both the Hendrix and CP60s Strats, and although the pickups are similar, they are slightly different. The 65s are higher output, brighter, and a little more compressed sounding. The CS69s are lower output, warmer, and slightly woodier sounding, whereas the 65s are a little glassier. Some of that could be due to the maple vs. rosewood fingerboard, but I think those tonal differences would still exist with the same fingerboard.

Assuming that the Hendrix pickups are just PV65s with lefty stagger, here's how they compare to CS69s. From Fender's website-
CS69
Output- 1
Treble- 5
Mid- 4
Bass- 5
DCR- 5.8k
Inductance- 2.2h

PV65
Output- 2
Treble- 6
Mid- 5
Bass- 5
DCR- 5.9k
Inductance- 2.6h
