I was wondering will a new style neck fit on an old type body?
The pickguard will be different with that cutout.
I know the old style 22 fret neck has an overhang but what about strats with 21 frets.
Does this mean a change of inventory i.e pickguard x or y etc.
I presume you can use the new tuners on the old models.... :D

Good question on the neck - the wheel is in the overhang part, but I suspect you will need a cutout for it in the body as well as in the pickguard.

In the past the tuners have had 3 tall post and 3 short post in the set; now they are all short post. I don't see how that would impact installing them on any other Fender with modern tuners. However, I do wonder if Fender will continue to sell the Deluxe Locking Tuners in the 3 tall/3 short set if they will switch over to selling them as 6 short. They could offer both so you have your choice.

Perhaps Fender used the spoke-wheel truss rod system to compete with ESP and Levinson Blade which employed a similar technique for their guitars.

Not sure if they're gonna adopt the new designs for the American Standards sometime in 2017.

I forgot about Levinson Blade using this system back in the day - I think they even had a little plastic cover over the wheel. EBMM has been using that system since at least 1985 when the first Silhouette guitar came out; I would have to turn up some photos of the first EBMM Sting Ray and Sabre basses to see if they used the wheel on them from the beginning of their production runs or if that came to the basses after the Silhouette was released.

I'm still poking along with my '89 Clapton. That model's going into it's 26th year of production pretty much 'as is' save for the change in pickups. Looks like its a keeper.

Note to Fender, there's still time: take one of each, an Elite body and a neck to NAMM. Maybe even an intersected neck.

Kinda hope seeing the new US Elite basses, I'm curious about how they'll look!

My only pro-level guitar is my 2005 American Series Stratocaster and I'm no pro. This one, my Highway Ones, my MIJ and my MIMs are all I'll ever need.

In stock? I saw only "preorder" options. :?

If they really are actually in stock, could you provide a link?

If you do a search on the USA Fender website for "American Elite" you'll now get a landing page where you can request to be emailed information when it is released. I'm sure that they are planning the big release for Thursday - opening day of the NAMM show. There is a media preview day on Wednesday - so maybe we'll get the reveal then instead.

Never mind that the two American Elite Strats (SSS and HSS) and the American Elite Thinline Tele (but not the regular American Elite Tele) are up on some of their International websites.

The regular Elite Tele is incidentally listed in the bass section.

Fortunately the folks are working on the issue, hence's the HTTP 404 message.

Elite specs are posted on fender products page. looks like maple fretboard does not have a skunk stripe. interesting. Autumn blaze reminds me of candy tangerine sort of.
Increase in price too.

The price increase was expected - typical for a new model. However, I wasn't expecting the ash bodied versions to be $100 more than the alder body versions.

The maple fingerboard necks are now two-piece with a separate fingerboard, just like the rosewood fingerboard version. The truss rod is installed under the fingerboard so there is no skunk stripe - same construction style as a 1960s rosewood fingerboard Fender.

NOW it's starting to get interesting - just take a look at the Elite Strat's wiring diagram.
N4's with three wires, and "diminished volume" settings for neck/mid pups, with series/parallel functions for those on pos1&2/S1 engaged...

Had noticed the Elite basses were removed from the products page.

Maybe just something wrong with the website. At the moment, these links seem to work:
Elite Precision
Elite Jazz IV
Elite Jazz V

BTW, no Micro-Tilt™ on Elites..?
