Hello, I got a (MIM) Dave Murray Strat for x-mas. It's a great guitar and I really like it. However, I noticed that the tone control does not work on the bridge pickup and, when I roll the volume down (when using the bridge pickup) it stays bright and doesn't lose any treble. Is this common on all the DM Strats or, is there something wrong with mine?

It's a feature, not a fault - the controls are "Master Volume, Tone 1. (Neck Pickup), Tone 2. (Middle Pickup)"; quoting from specs on the Dave Murray Strat product page.

Thanks for info. I think I'll look into rewiring it. I usually like a darker tone on the bridge pickup. Has anyone rewired their bridge pickup to work with the tone control? I guess the Seymour Duncan site might have some wiring diagrams, they use to anyway.

Tone #2 is supposed to control the tone for the middle and bridge pickups as Dave almost never uses the middle pickup. To the OP, see if Tone 2 can get you the sound you're looking for from the bridge...

I have absolutely no idea what Tone2 is supposed to do on the MIM version, but according to the product page and the wiring diagram, it only controls the mid pickup.
Maybe, just maybe Mr. Murray sometimes uses both mid & bridge pup together..?

(The T2 in the earlier, MIA signature version does indeed control both mid&bridge pups, but it's very differently constructed. Some info on that guitar on this topic: viewtopic.php?t=20803 )

Hmmm, don't know what to tell you then. Fender does what Fender does.

Neither tone control has an effect on the bridge pickup which, is why I originally posted. I figured it was some hot rodded way Dave likes his bridge pickup or, there was something wrong with mine.

Has anyone else noticed this about their (MIM) Dave Murray Strat?
