It took 13 days to get it, but my new pickguard came in today from Fender. Just as I thought, when I pulled the old pg off the wiring in there is a nightmare. At least to me anyway. And wouldn't you know it a wire broke off the passing lane switch and it took me a good while to figure out where it came from and to get it soldered back. There was no hole for the passing lane switch in the new pg so I had to drill one. No big deal. But the mount for it is glued to the underside of the pg so I had to take a knife and gently get it off the old pg. I was successful so after removing enough shielding on the new pg, I glued the mount in place. Everything went back fairly well although the N3 pups were a very, very tight fit! I'm posting pics of it completed and I have pics that I took during the procedure if anyone is interested in them. I'm glad it's finished! :) Here's the Toroise Pickguard!

i did something similar. I have a 2012 strat-satin honeyburst. bought a loaded pickguard with the switch to get all the pickup combos. works great, the pickups are noiseless, and it looks a lot better than the white pickguard.

I also installed chrome knobs, and painted the pickup covers. I get a lot of comments, since it doesn't look like any other strat around.

congrats on a nice upgrade!

Just curious as to why? And what kind of paint did you use? And how well does it stick to plastic...'longevity'.

I suppose, other than wanting to keep the original pickup covers on the guitar, or to have a color that's not available, I can't understand why someone would rather paint them, than buy them.

I too would like to see some pic's.

My 1985 Harmony has permanent pickup covers...would not be interchangeable with Fender parts (or other brands of Strat parts)...and there is nothing wrong with the original pickup's. The covers are black, and I'd like them to be aged white. But I'm absolutely scared to death to paint them, for fear of the paint slipping or chipping off the plastic in the near to distant future.
