Over the decades, I have learned that ever guitar plays just a bit different, wood type and density paint type, hardware ect, ect, ect.

I had 1 strat, 1 wolfgang and one Gibson acoustic. That one strat was a mexican one, but it played and felt good.
I always like the SRV strat, but could never seem to find one to try, and when I did, I didn't have the cash......story of my life it seem.
But just in the last two months I found two Strats that were just great players, a 1997 Californian and a 2000 SRV.

It just fell in my lap that 97, I was at the guitar store trying out reverb pedals.....didn't have my strat so I grabbed one of the wall and that was all she wrote.
Three weeks later, while trying out reverb pedals age, at another guitar store, there was that 2000 SRV, and ofcourse I tried it.....it took me a moth to get them to agree to a fair trade of my Wolfgang and 150 bucks.

Never wanted 3 strats, and they all have a very different voice and it very hard to choose just one, but the one that keeps up ending up on the stand in the 97 cali, I love those Texas pick-ups.
That Mexican one I had changed out the tremolo with a brass one block one, and it has Custom shop pick ups in it, and it does play great.
It's hard sometimes to choose but it's also nice to have options in tone.

It is nice to have options like that. My other like a whole lot guitar is an Ibanez Sa160 FM HSS. But the Hog Strat just ends up in my main music stand too! I just dearly love it.

I have a beautiful American Strat in sunburst with a maple fretboard. It's what I always wanted, but it has spent most of its life in the case.

Oddly, the guitar I play the most is a second-hand 2003 Highway 1 with a rosewood board and mystery pickups that were installed before I bought it. It has some dents and the finish is wearing off from my arm rubbing against it. The red in the sunburst has worn away so in one spot it looks like a two-color sunburst. I have five 6-string Strats and 12 guitars altogether. This one gets all the love.

That's a cool story. It doesn't have to be the most expensive to be your number one for sure! I have that $400.00 Ibanez that is just right on the verge of being a number one class guitar. It just needs the frets leveled and I think that would be it.

No single outright favorite -- depends on genre and mood to a large extent. However, I have an Ash Tele I tend to reach for when I'm in a bluesy mood. On the other hand, I have a MIM Strat with Lace Gold 50s when I want to mellow out and a 92 SG for funk or if I'm playing with horns. I also tend to decide to sell any guitar that I haven't touched in over six months (after giving it a "second chance" so to speak).

I too have finally found the guitar of my dreams, the one I was always looking for. It cam in the form of a 2012 American Standard with Custom Shop Fat 50's Pickups and a Micro Tilt adjustment in the Neck Plat for fine tuning the neck. It is a Mystic red and I play through a 15W Egnater Tweaker Tube amp that I absolutely Love. I went through too many guitars to count until I ran across an as-new Strat (previously described) and it has quickly become all I play. Mixed with a great tube amp this has brought my playing to new heights with a Maple neck and fret board that fits my hand like an Isotoner glove. After going through too many guitars and amps to count I found for me what was the perfect combination although the 2012 Am Std sounds fantastic through almost any amp and it's a guitar I will keep for life. Played American PRS's to Reverend guitars and nothing has ever matched the feel tone and play ability of my 2012 Mystic red. I will own this one for as long as I live. She's a beauty and has tone that lasts for days. Never been happier, never will be, thanks Fender for making my life a little bit better.

Those are some beautiful guitars my friends! And It's a wonderful thing to find the ONE! It may not be a single guitar for every one. It may be "The Ones" but it still a great thing! :)

Well I was in love with my first guitar, it was a 79-80 standard Strat, all black, rosewood...sold it 15 year ago and missed it until I stumbled upon American Special Stratocaster that I had to buy few weeks ago, everything fits perfect the sound, the neck shape, the finish...
As for acoustics I always go back to my 1998 Crafter, red cedar top, that I upgraded with tusk pins and saddle etc...just love it! Have a Takamine too and Ibanez that I sold few years back.

That's exactly what I mean! When I found my Mahogany Strat it was like love at first feel. And now that I've had it a few months I've developed a bond with it. I can make no other guitar sound the way that I can with this Strat. It makes me a better player for some reason. Anyway did I mention that I really like it? :D

Exactly what happened to me and this red beauty, the moment I played it I fell in love and had to buy it HAD TO! It was an unspeakable urge to take it home.
As for better player that too is the same, as I picked it up I was like, wow this is how he (knopfler) plays it, didn't know I could do that lol

I happen to run across a new 2012 American Standard in Mystic Red with a Maple fret board and Fat 50's pick ups and have never been happier with the sound or feel of a strat in my life. She's really special. I used to be A Reverend Fanatic but after getting the 2012 I have never bonded with a guitar the way I do this one. The neck (MAPLE) fits my hand like a glove and it still had the plastic on the pick guard and Back plate and a Chrome patch over the Tremolo hole. I would not sell her for 3 times what she cost and the Case is a TSA. I absolutely LOVE this guitar and have sold off everything but a Reverend 390 for backup that just is getting dustier by the day

It;s great to have a guitar you really enjoy nut as far as being in LOVE? with it. It sad to see the world become so material that all that matters is what we have and not what we do for others or the lack of spiritual awareness when all that matters is what we have or what we're going to get instead of what we can do for others or even ourselves on a higher level. I think it's sad to see people so attached to material things when to world falls apart around us and all we care about is "my new guitar" the greed is nauseating.

LOL. I agree to some extent with the comments above but consider a guitar as something different to a material possession. The value is not something to be reveled in but an irrelevance. A guitar is all about where it takes you.
