Have you ever bought a guitar that just made all your other guitars become back-ups? I own a Squier Standard Strat, A MIM Standard Strat, An Ibanez SA160FM that's very simular to a Strat, a Carvin Custom Shop CS6 that's simular to a Les Paul, and my favorite by a long shot, my L E American Deluxe Mahogany Strat.:) The Carvin is an extremely well made instrument. It plays and sounds great. The others are good too. No complaints. But the L E just blows them all away to me. It has all the sounds and tones that I want, like and need, has that wonderful compound radius neck that plays just awesome which I'm addicted to, and just feels fantastic in my hands. Plus it is absolutely beautiful to me! I don't play anything but the L E now. I can hardly put it down. You play for years and years and finally get "The One". Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Yep, true love! :)

My Clapton Signature Strat. The neck fits my hand like a glove. I've had it for five years and am still amazed at how great it sounds. Tonight at a gig I was just amazed out how great the black finish looked and how the guitar fit me perfectly.

I do have a new Limited Edition Mustang being delivered next week, so the Clapton might get a couple of weeks off.

My Strats are a bit like children and equally difficult to choose a favorite.

The MIA I bought 21+ years ago should be "The one" and the one I would save in a fire. But like an old dog, it is showing it's years. It really needs refretting but I can't bring myself to have it done in the fear it may loose it's soul. And, the thought of someone else being so intimate with it seems abhorrent.

As a result, if I could only play one of them until I die, it would be my 2015 Hardtail. A really great, light, and accousticly balanced guitar with an awesome finish and none of the issues a trem (that I never use) brings. Great value new and only 1 of 500. I'd probably buy another just as a spare.

That is the one I was gonna get before I found the Mahogany one! I almost ordered it! Great instrument, man. :)

And John, I can understand about the refretting of your baby. I would be the same way! :) And I don't use a trem either. I would have been happy if mine was hard tail.

Asking me to choose "the one" is like forcing a mother of fifteen to pick her favorite child.

I have noticed that I have been playing the Hardtail more and more lately and loving it so maybe it might be the "one", time will tell.

I knew after a day or two that this was the one. It feels like it was made for nobody else but me in my hands! It feels like my idea of the perfect guitar. And after I explored it's many different sounds I knew that If I could have only one guitar ever, it would be this one. I really have to give Fender credit for how well this thing is built. It's going on week 4 and I just can't find 1 flaw! Amazing! :D

I have three hardtails and I love them for their tuning stability and their enhanced sustain.

I like hard tails too. My trem. is decked really hard. I think I mentioned that though.

I love my 2012 MIM so much so, that I bought a 2015 MIM with the intention of setting it up identical to the 2012 as a back-up.
The 2015 sounded so nice with the pickup's where they were when it arrived...I didn't bother to attempt to set the guitar up to match the 2012.

I love them both...but if I was forced to get rid of all my guitars except one...the White on White MIM 2012 would be my keeper. Looks, sound, feel, playability...it beats everything I have ever had my hands on whether I owned them or not.

My '98 AD Fat Strat Locking has been my go-to guitar since I bought it but the Partsocaster is threatening to take over the number one spot since I made some switching and pup changes.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Location: In a house....unless I'm at work....then I'm in a shop.
Over the decades, I have learned that ever guitar plays just a bit different, wood type and density paint type, hardware ect, ect, ect.

I had 1 strat, 1 wolfgang and one Gibson acoustic. That one strat was a mexican one, but it played and felt good.
I always like the SRV strat, but could never seem to find one to try, and when I did, I didn't have the cash......story of my life it seem.
But just in the last two months I found two Strats that were just great players, a 1997 Californian and a 2000 SRV.

It just fell in my lap that 97, I was at the guitar store trying out reverb pedals.....didn't have my strat so I grabbed one of the wall and that was all she wrote.
Three weeks later, while trying out reverb pedals age, at another guitar store, there was that 2000 SRV, and ofcourse I tried it.....it took me a moth to get them to agree to a fair trade of my Wolfgang and 150 bucks.

Never wanted 3 strats, and they all have a very different voice and it very hard to choose just one, but the one that keeps up ending up on the stand in the 97 cali, I love those Texas pick-ups.
That Mexican one I had changed out the tremolo with a brass one block one, and it has Custom shop pick ups in it, and it does play great.
It's hard sometimes to choose but it's also nice to have options in tone.
