Hello all,
I just changed out the noiseless pickups in my 98 American Deluxe strat with the 57/62 single coil set.

In the process I noticed something different from the schematic where the volume pot should have a 220K resistor in parallel with a 680pf capacitor which is soldered to the volume pot outer pot leg and middle leg. I think that's a treble bleed yes?

On my Deluxe, the volume pot has one outer leg grounded to the pot case, the middle leg going to the output jack, and the other outer leg goes to the 5-way switch and also has a 1meg resistor soldered to it with the other end of the resistor soldered to the pot case.

Does anyone know the purpose of that resistor? I haven't found any schematics like that. :?:

IMO it is not Fender original wiring , it look like a mod. Did you buy guitar new from a store ?
If I'm right ,this resistor will change impedance of the pickups .

About treble bleed you are right.

+1 Jmattis ,

Left hand need some reverse mod / wiring or ....?
Maybe that is the purpose of the resistor.

People must give all the information when asking question

Wow jmattis your right. My strat is a right hand model but the volume pot is wired the same as the left hand model.
I bought this guitar new in 98 and no one has ever messed with the electronics. I never thought of looking at the diagram for a left hand model. Whoever did the assembly must have grabbed a volume pot for a left hand model and installed it. I don't know why a left hand strat volume control would be wired any different than a right hand control.

stratele52 is also correct about the pot resistance because it measures 500K. That would make sense with a 1M resistor across a 1M pot. This strat has always sounded a bit darker than other deluxe strats I have heard. Possibly because of the lower resistance of the volume pot.

Here is a link for the wiring diagram for this model. It's just like mine except for the resistor that I drew on the volume pot.

Much thanks for your input on this issue guys. Mystery Solved. :D

500k vol pot keep sound with more treble/ high than 250k vol pot wich send treble/ high to ground

1 meg resistor in parallel with your 500k pot is like a 355k pot .

If you want more high/ treble remove the 1 meg resistor
