The strings on my new LE Deluxe Mahogany Strat don't line up as close as I think they should. In the pic, at the 22nd fret, notice that the 1st string (high E) is further from the edge of the fretboard than the 6st (low E) string. It's like the bridge isn't aligned with the neck just right. Would this bother you?

That would bug me to the point of returning it. In my opinion the strings should be centered, the only difference between the 1th and 6th is the width of the strings. What I mean is that the difference should be the same if measured to the center of the string, sometimes it looks like the 6th is closer because its wider. But from your photo the alignment looks off it appears as if the bridge is mounted a few mm off ( I don't think a misaligned nut would result in that kind of problem). Taking a close look it even appears that the 6th saddle has been pushed over in an attempt to correct the misalignment. However the experts here will give a more informed answer. I vote return it if you can, or at least go to the store and look at the others.

Yes it would bother me.
If you are close to the agent get them to correct it.
It may just require loosening the neck screws and realigning but if still under warranty then the supplier should take the risk in sorting it. :D

It wouldn't bother me. You don't bend a bottom E string but you bend the top E a lot. The neck and bridge can only be where they are or the scratch plate wouldn't fit. You could nudge the strings over with the saddles a bit if it was really bugging you but I don't see it as an issue. I know what you mean but I'm sure it isn't anything to worry about.

You could check that the trem top plate is properly seated on other edge of the posts. I seem to recall you mentioned decking the trem. If the bottom post is too low it can push the trem plate backwards as it then wouldnt be sitting cleanly in the taper in the post.

I don't know why I didn't think of that before now. I was just sick over it. Paying that much for a guitar that's out of line! I just took your advice and now she's aligned as perfect as I can get it with these eyes. :D Thank you all so very much! I feel SO much better now.

You can tell that I've played mostly set neck guitars most of my life. :) I started playing Strats just a couple of years ago. So maybe that's why I never thought of it. But you are right we are hear to learn and I really did learn something! Thank you. :D

You may find that if you move the high E closer to the edge, you'll wish you had more fretboard under it. I'd probably leave it the way it is, myself.

I did loosen everything and adjust it. Now it's pretty even on both sides. So far there hasn't been an issue with the high E, but I'll keep that in mind. I really appreciate your input. Thanks! :)
