The AVS guitars are very nice instruments. I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Yeah I will take a picture when it gets here. Coming from Mississippi to Vermont will be here Tuesday sometime. :) Cant wait :) I don't really collect them..I play all of mine some more than others depends on where I am playing etc and or practice. I know some are collectors which is great if you can afford to do that. Me I hoping more of playable strat here. The three strats I have now is my 2009 standard American strat, then my 65 American Vintage RI 2013 and now this one. I thought the 65 was alittle to fat for my liking I can play its just alittle more challenging. Im hoping this one will be a tad easier...on the neck side of things. will post a picture once I get it. thanks for the comments

Bought my last two guitars on international mail order. Parcel tracking is so frustrating. One guitar spent longer in my local depot than the duration of the trip for it to get there. It does make the whole experience more exciting though - a bit like Norads Santa tracking :-)

Scottymac, the 56' has a fat neck profile, if you wanted a thin neck the 59' would have been a better AVRI choice.Image

That's been my observation as well.

I concur with some of the other comments regarding the neck. The '56 neck is a lot thicker than the '65. I love it, but if you like thinner necks this might not be the one for you.

That's interesting cause I asked fender what guitar out of the Vintage series is the closest neck wise to the eric Clapton signature and he said the 56 cause the neck on that guitar fit my hand really really well. Now I have the 65 and that is large yes and thick. But there is no V or even slight on that neck. I needed something more towards the soft V shape. I mean I will make accommodations like oh well I've dealt with the 65. He gave me the measurements of the neck on the 56. And the pics from what Ive seen do not make it look very thick or large. But of course these are pics. Kind of hard to tell. Oh well we will see once its here if its real bad I will send it back. Just being optimistic.

also if someone has the guitar the 56 could they maybe post an upclose picture of the neck like looking at the it from the depth from the front to back so I can see approximately how thick it is. basically taking the picture from the side of the neck. up close if anyone can would be really appreciated.

scottymac - You've probably seen the picture by now, but maybe not. "my56strat" posted the pic of the neck profile and it indeed looks pretty fat. Somewhat like a baseball bat. However, I can't see if it's a soft V or not.

Fender refers to the neck on the '56 as a Thick Soft "V". I've played it and that is a good description. It is definitely a handful and definitely a V. I find it very comfortable.

The v shape will likely feel different to you than the more rounded neck on the '65 and you may find you like it.

Yeah I figure I really liked the eric Clapton signature I tried in the store but I wanted a neck something close to that but on a vintage instrument and basically Ive been told this 56 is the closest thing to that. Maybe its the thick neck in hand that better suits me. But not the C that's on my 65! For some reason my hand cramps on those bar chords on the 65. But the eric Clapton was perfect but hoping the soft V on 56 is close to that somewhat!
