I'm thinking about a new look for a Candy Apple Red Strat with maple fingerboard and would like to hear your opinions and suggestions for cosmetic changes: i.e. pup covers, PG, knobs, back plate, switch tips. If you have pictures of your own cosmetic mods it would be great.

Thanks in advance!
Cheers!

What are you going for? Understated elegance, contrasts, or over-the-top eye catching?

Hmm. Good questions, arth1. I don't have anything specific in mind so I'm open to suggestions. I like elegance, understated or otherwise. I can also go for contrast and eye-catching but I think I'd like to keep things under as opposed to over the top. :D

The white PG with the parchment accessories looks good, Shimmi but perhaps a little too understated.

Cheers!

A gold anodized pg would set it off nicely.

Pearloid pickguard, lipstick pickups, white knobs...
Hey, wait - they almost did that already (except for the RW fretboard...): http://www.fender.com/squier/guitars/st ... 20509.html

Sounds like a good excuse to pull up my 3D Strat file again. :D

I'd say this is an excellent excuse. Go for it, John Sims. :) Thanks for the input and keep those suggestions coming.

If you just want to keep it simple, and don't have the patience to let things age naturally, changing the pickup covers, knobs, and switch tip to "Aged Cream" can be done for under $20.00 (US)....and makes an IMMEDIATE difference in looks. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessor ... y-kit?rNtt

And if your axe has only one string guide (tree), you can add a second one for about $9.00 (US) on a 2 pack of American T's. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/trees-fe ... ide-2?rNtt
