This is one sweet guitar! Pups sound awesome, fit, finish, feel are all superb. This is definitely on par with the former 57 Vintage RI, and even better sounding pups IMO. This is the one with nitro paint, which is about $100 more than the poly finish versions.

Classic Series 50s, CAR, nitro finish, even comes with a case, purchased from Sweetwater. :D

Very Nice! Congratulations! As you're in Indiana, did you select it and pick it up from the Store?

Thx guys. 8)

Yes it looks very nice, and sounds fantastic. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the pups sound. I looked at nearly every other color made, but I just had to have the CAR. The pictures don't really do it justice, it looks better in person.

I wonder if there is any difference in the pups on the poly version of this model. :?:

I ordered online from Sweetwater. The first time I touched it was right after it was delivered. I have always received top notch gear from Sweetwater, so no hesitation on my part buying without having it in hand first. I was very familiar with the specs, neck shape, etc, so no surprises there. Oh, and free shipping too. I ordered it early Monday morning and it was delivered Tuesday around 1 PM.

CAR w/a maple neck is one of my fav "looks" for a strat. that's nice man!

Sweetwater is very good to work with. I've had very good experiences. I prefer them to any of the others Musicians Friend is ok but they just don't do a good enough job in the packing details when shipping guitars. Sweetwater is much better, and FED-EX ground is much faster usually than UPS.

Very nice! I went with Sweetwater when I bought my latest Strat. Sweetwater is a great company that really cares about its customers.

Here's my latest baby.

Sweetwater is great for shipping, pictures and much more, but their QC and "55 point inspection" isn't all that great. They have missed obvious faults on 3 out of 3 instruments I bought from them (two with large visible lacquer scratches on the front, one arrived with a disconnected pickup), and a case I bought was falling apart at the seam before even having had a guitar in it. All new, not demos.

The hassle of returning through mail and dealing with a customer rep who seems to be gung ho at shifting blame elsewhere is just too great - I ended up re-buying the case from Guitar Center and tossing the scrap SW sent me. Having to deal with re-packaging, taking time off from work to be there for another FedEx pick-up and delivery, and dealing with a designated sales rep that consistently doesn't want to accept responsibility was worse than taking the $100 loss and go elsewhere.
Obvious problems should be discovered before first shipping. SW doesn't do a good job there. If you've been lucky so far, well, you've been lucky.

So now I only use Sweetwater for small purchases. They've lost me for big ones requiring signing at the door due to the utter lack of QC and desire to pass the buck.

Congrats I like the aged vintage vibe going on with this.
I would have gone for the lacquer option as well. :D

That's a fine looking axe you got there, Shimmi.
Congratulations.
Very fine.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I'm not a great lover of red Stats, but that I like a lot. It just looks right in every detail and, if it plays and sounds anything close to what it looks, it must be pretty damn awesome.

Nice looking git!

How much candy (real candy) do they send you with a guitar purchase?

Schweet Shimmi! I wasn't much on CAR because it had been a bit overdone on many of the hotrods/muscle cars growing up and subsequently wasn't a fan, but that is a sweet one. I have the poly 60's cousin to yours...pickups were great, but I did later change them to TS...just for something different tone wise. These Classic Series play like you paid much more than you do.
