Now available in Fat '50s, Select and Texas Specials.
Does anyone know what these are for.
The only Strat they seem to fit is the Deluxe Plus.
There is no sign of the solderless control board, 5 way switch and pots being available to modify existing Strat models.

These have been on Fender's website for about a year now; and you are correct in that it appears they only fit the Deluxe Strat Plus models. I don't know if the connections work with any of the aftermarket solderless wiring setups that are available.

They fit the Select series too, but those already have better solderless pups than the Deluxe models do.
It's kind of pointless to have solderless pickups if the manufacturer doesn't also sell the matching sockets. Fender doesn't, so they're pretty much useless. 90%+ of those who buy them are going to have to cut and solder, which makes it an obstacle, not a solution.
A $10 kit of Molex plug connectors to solder into an existing guitar would have made an awful lot of sense. So Fender (and Gibson) don't do it.

I agree. It seems an entirely pointless exercise.

I am surprised Fender don't sell the plugs and sockets though. If it is such a good idea surely people would like to convert their non pluggable Strat?

Now if you put a plug and socket on the jack plug connection lead so that you could swap out complete loaded pick guards without needing a soldering iron, that would be a good idea. Although, even just based on a PUP swap, the cost is such that I can't see anyone doing it so frequently as to need the convenience of a "Plug and Play" solution.

Scrub that.....it's a stupid idea all round.

Interesting. I knew they were offering the Select pickups in a solderless version (like they are offering the Fat 60s and Texas Specials), but I didn't realize the guitars themselves had solderless connections.

So if I did want to convert my strat to solderless, would this be the best thing to use?

It would fit neither Fender's "solderless" nor Gibson's "quickconnect" system. The 3-pin micro-IDC headers used on motherboards look like they may fit the Fender ones, but no guarantees.

For 2-wire pickups, Fender uses the two outer pins, letting the middle one be unattached.

Right. I'm thinking instal one half in the guitar, use the other half on pups. That way could use any set of pups. Not trying to match any existing system. . . Just being a wimp about soldering.

Micro plugs can be a right pain to connect as they are generally factory crimped or use solder as fine as a fine thing from the planet Fine. If you don't enjoy soldering it probably isn't going to float your boat.

You could always use a choc block connector strip I guess and just screw up (as in with a screw driver) the connections.

A point to consider though - every junction is a possible resistance and point of failure. A GOOD solder joint is about as good as you can get, anything else is going to be a compromise in a circuit which is already using tiny amounts of current.

If that is actually the connection used, you could prolly get away with a breakaway header. Provided the tangs are equivalent size.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
