Hi all

Is it a genuine -76 neck but a different body, or what do we have here?

You have a 1976 Stratocaster (body and neck) that has been heavily modified. The middle pickup looks like it could be original. The neck and bridge pickups are aftermarket. The bridge itself looks original, but the saddles have been replaced. I can't tell you about the pick guard. It may be original, but modified, or it's aftermarket.

Is the guitar years? As to value, well . . . The fact that it has been heavily modified (and stripped of all paint, which I love by the way. I have a rosewood '79 Strat that looks the same) the guitar has very little collector value. If sold, the guitar would be worth its parts. It's not uncommon for Strats of this period to be modified. I wouldn't pay more than between $750 - $900 for this guitar. Unmodified, these guitars are valued at between $1,600 - $2,000 depending on condition.

Those were stock in-house tuners used by Fender from the late '60s through the '70s. The tuning buttons are chromed over plastic. On the whole, they work pretty well.

I've owned a few '70s era Strat and they can be hit or miss. Two of my favorites have been a blonde '76 that and my current '75 Strat.

I did however own a black '77 hardtail that was really aweful. I eventually got it playable, but I was never satisfied with how it played.

I happen to come back to this thread and realized that that some of the black fret black markers had been replaced with shell. Just an observation.

Looking at the body of this guitar, it makes me miss my '79 Strat.

That's a beautiful guitar, too bad with all the Humbuckers. To me, they never really go well together with a Strat (HB pups and Floyd), but hey different strokes for different folks.

They don't look alike original Fender saddles.

+1

The original saddles for a mid '70s Strat were cast Mazac (as was the rest of the one-piece bridge assembly). As such, they were never marked with Fender's logo.

The saddles on the guitar in question appear to be generic stamped-steel replacements.
