I bought Fender Squier (HSS in Montego black) a few years ago and I feel like it’s time for an upgrade. It was my first electric guitar ever but now it’s just not enough.

I really want to start with changing the pickups and have some questions.

I’m thinking about:
Burns Mini-Tri Sonic Pickups
and
TV Jones TV Classic Bridge C UV humbucker

Can I use only the neck and the middle pickup from the set and use the TV Jones one as the humbucker? Is it going to work? And...will the TV Jones humbucker fit nicely into my HSS pickuard? I don’t want to have a giant gap around it.

Thanks a lot for your answers.

If you want to upgrade, save up until you can afford a better guitar.
There's only so far you can go on a beginner instrument.

He's just saying it may not be worth the money spent on new parts to put on a squire affinity model or better to sell the affinity and maybe buy a used Am Special/Performer etc.
You may find making some upgrades will not work without modifying the body routes, etc.
They are typically a smaller/thinner body, so you must make accurate measurements before buying some replacement parts. You will have to compare the things you want w/ the size space you have available.

The Squier Affinity guitars have thinner bodies than standard, which means that the routings may not be deep enough to accommodate different pickups.
You need to get the scratchplate off and measure the depth of the routs.
You also need to get hold of the dimensions for the pickups you wish to fit.

What is your better guitar?

American Original 50s Telecaster.

I like the Squier body and pickuard color that’s why I didn’t want to sell it. So I thought it would be fun to change it a little bit. It already has a different neck that I’ve got as a gift.

My best advice is measure things twice, and then measure again just to be sure.
If you have to start increasing the depth of the routes bail out.

It goes back to "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should."
It's your money and your guitar, but always keep in mind that it is a $150 guitar if you ever want to sell it, and you can put $600 in parts into it and it's still going to be a $150 guitar.

Is that stopping me from putting $600 in parts into a Harley Benton? No... but I understand what it is and that I will not be increasing the value.

But particularly with the Affinity, understand that off-the-shelf parts may not fit properly, so you may have some trial-and-error, or may need to plug and re-drill some holes for the pickguard.
Body depth is the biggest issue, and push-pull pots or noiseless pickups may be too deep, and you don't have room between the trem spring cavity and pickup cavity to deepen the routes.

If you like it, I say throw some money at it. I have a 97 Affinity Strat that has an awesome neck and actually sounds great when played acoustically. The electronics in it suck, no doubt, but I have considered dropping in some new pickups.

It is your money. You can squander it anyway you wish.
