I have an American Amber Deluxe Start with Rosewood Fretboard. Its not getting played as I don't really like the neck.

I would like to change the neck for a Maple 7.5 radius neck...Is this possible? I would then swap over the Machines heads aswell...

Thanks

The difference in mounting is the neck bolt pattern.
You would have to re-drill the new neck.
AFAIK, 3 of the 4 are the same.

That is a direct replacement (what you have now), and Fender pre-drilled the 5 holes... your body would cover the extra hole.

I think I will look at moving the guitar on then...I really want a Maple 7.5 neck

Probably best as a 7½" neck will be drilled for vintage Kluson type tuners so your modern tuners wont fit without a lot of drilling.

I can't find any new American Strats with a 7.5 radius....

You could look at Warmoth or Musikraft and have them make exactly what you're looking for. Selling the existing neck might even cover the cost.

Yes, this might devalue the guitar but if you put the neck that you want on it and you might never want to sell it.

I recently had a 10/56 thick soft V shaped neck made by a local luthier and installed on my American Standard Strat (2012). I'm never giving that up! And the sale of the old neck covered the cost to make and install the new one.

Not on the menu anymore; even the vintages lost it when the series was renamed American Originals and redesigned…

If you're into the electronics/wiring, looks & such of your Deluxe, those aftermarket necks (Warmoth & Musikraft mentioned, Allparts or Mighty Mite are licensed, too) to make a partscaster are a good idea.
If the neck (radius and fretboard) are the crucial factors, maybe consider a US-made AVRI (and I use that term here liberally...).

Ya, looks like all of the 7.5 are MiM, "Classic" series (50s, 60s, and 70s)
You've got a few options in the $500+ range if you're willing to accept 9.5"

Honestly, I really like the 7.5, but I absolutely love the neck on my American Special at 9.5.
There's not a whole lot of difference. You've got a compound radius on the Deluxe, which runs from 9.5 to 14"... 14" is *really* flat for someone used to traditional Fender. Even my G&Ls are 12".

It looks like this one is drilled for all 5 holes and should bolt right on:

Don't overlook the MIJ Traditional series, they sre still traditionally 7.25"...

But does anyone remember the last version of Vintage Hot Rod Strats; they had an interesting 7.25"-12" compound radius. Those necks are very rarely found in ebay/reverb/&such, and of course the tuner hole issue is still there.

I guess pricey is a relative thing. They were one of the most expensive MIA offerings new aside Signature guitars, and before going to Custom Shop, so they aren't going to be cheap second hand.
