I'm happy to say that the new family member will be coming early next week. I've been watching the Tonemaster series of amps since they were first announced. I've also done hours of reading about them. My friend got a Twin a month and 1/2 ago and loves it. I've played through it. I don't think I can be better prepared. I'm aware of the polarization among forum members. And at age 69 and at 55 years of playing through more amps than I can shake a stick at..........I'm ready for a lighter version of one of my favorite amps. The back-panel features are the icing on the cake.
A wonderful idea from Fender. I hope that they apply this concept to some of the other models of Fender tube amps.

First time I hear about this amp. Look is very nice.
I look a tube's amp but it is a all digital amp.

Enjoy.

Your wish hasn't fallen on deaf ears -- that suggestion has already been floated to at least one Fender exec. I think FMIC is waiting to see the sales numbers for the first two editions (TMTR and TMDR).

An update on my Tonemaster Twin, one week in.
I wasn't too surprised at this amp as I had already gotten familiar with my friend's amp. But I was pleasantly reassured on my decision to get my Twin. Everything is working as it should. No issues at all. The amp sounds too good(if that's possible).
I'm playing an Epiphone Casino with P90 pickups through it, going through Boss compressor, delay and distortion pedals. This amp made friends with these pedals very quickly and it's as if they were made to be together. And the smell of this amp is pretty darn nice. You other owners know what I mean.
I've gotten my new Twin out and played it everyday. It has kinda rejuvenated this old guy.
So.........bottom line: whatever opinion you might have of the Tonemaster series, give it a fair chance. It's so nice to be able to take a Twin out gigging again.
Did I mention I can pick up my Twin with one finger?

Maybe Fender should've named these amps the "Featherweight" series.

Glad to hear it's working out for you.

Solid state amp don't need ( heavy) output transformer.
Power transformer is smaller than one in tubes amps,
Solid state chips are lighter than tubes and their sockets

The neodymium speakers also play a significant role in weight reduction, probably more so than the smaller transformers.

You are right, they are lighter.

The amp is lighter, but the sound stays heavy. :D

The weight differential between Jensen's Neodymium N12 and their C12K (standard speaker in the '65 TRRI) is approximately 4.25 lbs so the total speaker heft of the TMTR is reduced by 8½ lbs.

Sounds like you're living the dream. Not much negative buzz about these new amps. Maybe they finally got it right.

With the imminent loss of the forum and the anecdotal/empirical evidence it could provide, it now seems that we'll never know.

:(
