Hey folks - just created this sub-forum devoted to the new Tone Master® amps:

https://shop.fender.com/en-US/guitar-am ... ne-master/

I'm definitely planning on getting the Twin Reverb® personally - have had a chance to spend just a few minutes with one and am already sold. Can't wait to use one of these things at an upcoming gig! :D

How effective is the rear-panel attenuator switch, Brad?

I remember the ¼-power switch on the old blackface "Evil Twin" didn't really seem to make much of a difference, volume-wise.

I have the Twin model. I was on the list from Guitar Center and have had it now for 2 weeks. I have used it for 3 gigs and all I can say is it is amazing. I have no regrets buying it. I can't wait to see what others have to say about these amps.

That was one item that really jumped out to me even on a quick test drive of the Twin, Arjay - it's effective, indeed. Takes the amp from a 'rager' so to speak down to bedroom/apartment levels, and with lots of granularity in between!

Sounds like I need to check one of these monsters out.

Thanks for the testimonial, Brad!

I anticipate I'll be following right along in your footsteps, Jim! Have always wanted to try a Twin live but it's just never been practical ... until now. So I was honestly already pretty much sold just based on weight alone. Throw in that XLR out and power selector / attentuator, and yessir ... my own hot button has officially been pressed. :D

Have you tried the Deluxe Reverb version, Brad?

That would be more what I'd have in mind.
I haven't had the need for an 85w twin in... well, honestly... ever... but I ran nothing but 100w 2-12 and 1-12 amps from 1980 until I bought the Blues Jr around '95 (1st gen green board black Tolex)

I currently own three Deluxe Reverb's (originals from '68 and '78, a re-issue from 1993) but I'm still interested in the TM version purely out of technical curiosity.

I like what I am hearing on the YT clips (which doesn't mean a lot), and being stuck in a condo, the attenuator is attractive.

Still, for $300 less I can build a 5E3 and drop in an L-Pad.

The sonic differences between a tweed Deluxe and a blackface Twin Reverb are *significant*.

Apples to asparagus I'm afraid. Thus your comparison is a non sequitur.

so brad, let's look to the future. any chance we could see a vibrolux or any other amps be released as a tonemaster? i like the 2-10 amp, and this may get me interested.

I mentioned that to Brad in a private e-mail, PB.

I too think it would do well in the marketplace.

Honest truth is I haven't plugged in to the Deluxe version just yet but definitely intend to before I make a decision. I'm trying to be good this year and pace my gear acquisition at a bit more forgiving pace so, I think I'm still a few weeks out before hovering over the "Add to Cart" button with credit card in hand.

(Let's not talk about how last year went on the 'gear acquisition pace' front. :D )

Anyway, back to your question - although I've yet to spend quality time with one I did pick the Deluxe Reverb up (i.e., physically) and my impression is that it's light enough that you could pretty much play a meaningful game of football with one of these as the ball if you wanted. (Note: not a good idea, DON'T do this. Haha!)
