I should also add that I $@!&#* to them quite a bit...in that the GT's main selling point was it's upgradibility via firmware & whatnot...ok, fair enough, they've done that a few times...but most have been to address "issues" with the amp itself, which shouldn't have been there to begin with...a regular "non-update-able" amp's life cycle is several years usually....so one would/shouldn't expect one that was sold under the pretense that it shall last you quite some time cuz of updates kind of be obsolete already, in a manner of speaking...so if there needed to be improvements, or more importantly, "fixes", to the whole amp - soft- and hardware - so be it...but at least offer previous GT owners some sort of "olive branch" for having put up with so many issues...throw us a bone...free footswitch....or a good discount on a trade-in for the GTX...something...I mentioned this in my email...but all they said was the date of the final update and that the GTX is an entirely new platform.
Because I'm loving me my new Strat...I shall take this on the chin...and no longer $@!&* about it...

Hmmmm....i wonder what they mean by "an entirely new platform". That to me suggests something very different from what my understanding is from all i have seen in namm videos from fender. That being that the GT and GTX (once the GT is updated) are aside from the cab and speaker (and hopefully some hardware fixes) the same amp. The GT is getting the new firmware and will also work with the same footswitch, so how is this likely to be a "new platform". I wish they had explained that more clearly to you.

I imagine by that they mean the cab and speaker and possibly the power section tho i think they likely just mean cab and speaker. I cannot imagine the guts are all new. I'd really love to know the whole truth but thats never gonna happen. We could speculate all day but theres no logic when it comes to fenders handling of the mustang line.

I have a 100 gtx pre-ordered at GC.... I noticed on the product photos that it is made in China. GC says the anticipated shipping date is March 11, 2020... With the Corona beer (just kidding) virus pandemic, has anyone heard if this could delay shipping/production?

Ok, I pre-ordered a 100 gtx. I was looking at the catalog pictures, and a closeup of the back says it is made in China.... home of the Corona Beer (just kidding) virus.... GC ad says the are to ship on March 11, 2020.... Anyone hear if the virus and associated shutdowns will likely force a big delay in the ship date?

Great minds....

I was thinking the same thing the other day. Some products i heard that were not music related have been slowed because of it but nothing about fender or other music related factories that i heard. I did hear that new cases have dropped off pretty steeply so china must be gettin it done. Hopefully the GTX won't be impacted but i nor anyone else is gonna be able to tell you. If fender knows they certainly won't be telling anyone.

I'm sure the firm/software update can go through without any "viruses" :)
At any rate I got me a good "anti-virus" program...
2 days til the update, btw, according to Fender support...

Hmmm, a Fender person just posted on TGP it would be toward the end of March, when the new Tone apps are available in their respective app stores. Guess we’ll see.

Tele-de-fender was talking about the firmware. The tone app is another story so the firmware could drop tuesday even if a fender rep said tone would be march. But who knows really. What reps tell you are never 100% reliable.

Ok, he now says no firmware or tone till end of march. Makes sense to me too but when TDF said this tuesday i was hopeful. Also, he said no PC tone app for the GTX/GT, only the LTs.

I'm not sure I follow...who said end of March? That'd be a bummer...

Saw deliveries at guitar center push out to March 25 when all along they were sayin March 10 (today). So I assume that’s about what we’re lookig at for new firmware/tone app now?
