Hi I am having a problem with my GT40 and pedal, the pedal sometimes won't work and an error u-3 comes on, sometimes it comes on and freezes up and won't work at all.
Is this problem with the amp or the pedal?

In the amp unfortunately. I had the same issue till i opened the amp and saw there is a seperate small circuit board for the footswitching circuit and it connects to the main board via a multi pin connector. Very flimsy type of connector that i was pretty sure was the reason for the issue for a few reasons. So i hardwire bypassed every pin. Very tedious job and not for the non tech types. But that was many months ago and that fixed the issue and it hasn't happened since. Yet another unfortunate issue with this amp that hasn't been rectified. The cutting out issue u also have as per your reply in the other thread may not be a connector but i'm not sure. I did the same hardwire bypass to the send/return board that i suspected as the possible reason but no luck. Mine still does it and i'm beginning to lean towards the likelihood this issue is firmware related even tho it seems hardware related to me.

In any case, as i said in the other thread u should return it under warranty. All these issues seems to vary from one amp to the next as to how often the issues happen. So if u r really lucky one or both may not be present in the new amp or at the very least not happen as often.

All of the above with mine also. Haven't heard of one of mine is the effects. Can not get a clean wah , or any effect in the amp to sound loud or good. Volume also took of on its own once in a while. Talked to fender about this and its now Fedx ed to Arazona. They got it Thursday. Stay tuned.

Not to rain on your parade, but good luck with that. Fender is clueless as to what is causing these issues. I sent mine back to them too early on and they said it;s fixed and sent it back only to find it still did it. Can;'t even rememmber which issue it was. Then i told them and they sent me a new amp., All the same issues to this day. Fender said they fixed the cutting out issue in new production yet people with new GT's are still having issue. The fact is, fender has no idea whats going on. How about the EXP-1 pedal that EVERY person who has one will tell you it doesn't work correctly. I made them aware of this early on oprobably 2 years now, and they still don't work right. I have TWO EXP-1's, one they sent me. They don't work right with the GT , period. In 2 years still no fix.

Point is, if you like the amp enough to keep it even with it's faults, try and just be happy like that because it's never going to work right 100% till they discontinue it and come out with a all new one. I have no less than 4 issues right now, all of which are from DAY ONE. And a 5th i was able to fix and is now gone. I bought one of the first ones the day it hit the floor at GC and i am as i said on my second one. Thats why i said good luck, you will need it. You just need to decide if the amp is worth it to you with all it's issues as is. I am because i think the tone and feel and features are awesome. It IS a fantastic amp, issues aside. If fender was able to come up with a new mustang with none of the issues and all of the tone and features they'd have IMO the absolute best modeling combo on the market.

Will this is number 2 for me I sent in. First one was a guitar center exchange. I will be happy if they get the preset effects working. If you remember you helped me with the settings a while back. Got very very little wah sound. I asked how to turn it up and you warned me it would be too loud. Not the case, still could hardly hear it. I sent fender a audio file of the little wah there was and the volume taking off on its own with a loud screeching sound.

No, i didn't say or at least mean "loud". I meant the wah effect would be too intense.
