Yes, i use the cab models. The output section of this amp does NOT recreate the sound of a tube amp output section. In other words, it is not colored, it's basically full range and flat response. So if you disable the cab sims it will sound horrible, like plugging into a stereo playback system. The only time you would want to use no cab sim is if you are using another amp like a tube amp for power and not using the GT's output section.

Overall it's a great amp but like most others it's not without it's weak points. Once i addressed those i gotta say to ME at least the amp is far better.

My GT100 is my first real experience with guitar amps so I'm finding this thread very interesting. I have to ask though oczad, do you still use amp/cabinet modelling after you have changed the speaker? Or do you only use distortion/modulation etc now?

Interesting thank you :). Trying to get my head round this... so if the new speaker (the one you suggest changing to) isn't the one Fender designed to be used to model other amps and cabinets, does that not mean the modelling of the included amps and cabinets becomes "wrong". IE I can't assume the Bassbreaker modeling sounds like the Bassbreaker anymore? Or are you saying the new speaker actually makes the modelling better?

I hope that makes some sort of sense!

I'm saying the stock speaker sounds harsh and stiff at stage levels. I don't like it at any level but low it's acceptable. It was designed for fender by celestion exclusively for this amp with the purpose of sounding good for streaming music via the bluetooth feature. It was a compromise between guitar tone and music playback. In other words, in order to make music playback not sound horrible as it generally does thru any amp, they used a speaker that sounds much better for that but compromises guitar tone. Maybe you won't hear it and be happy with the stock speaker. I personally would have long since sold the amp if i could not change the speaker. For ME the difference is nite and day. If YOU buy the hot 100 i can't guarantee u will like it so maybe u should just stick with the stock one. It will not make any of the models sound any less like what they are supposed to be, but then they aren't that close anyways. Look at it like this.....people change speakers to improve the real versions of the amps the \GT is supposedly modeling and if you ask say a guy with a real deluxe reverb if the change made his amp no longer sound like a deluxe you won't find one person who will tell you that. Speakers don't change an amp's character, they just improve or degrade whats there.

I see, all very interesting stuff thank you.

I will consider what to do as the long term idea is it will get used louder at gigs. Its not a huge outlay to get to give it a try at least.

Cheers
