I own a fender mustang GT 200. I recently purchased a zoom G92tt multi fx pedal to have more foot switch options for playing live and have several questions. ( I have done tons of online research and thoroughly read both owners manuals). Also I mainly plan on using the fx from the pedal not the amp. I realize that it is Overkill to have both of these...I want to use the mustang fx as little as possible.

1. What would be the best way to connect this unit to my amp? Both have an fx send and return, I have never used this feature before on any of my amps. I understand signal path chain examples I think.

2. I also bought a G72tt pedal ( same thing but smaller). Is there a way to hook both of them up?

3. Are there any things that I should be careful of so I don't damage anything?

Appreciate the help. Ive been playing guitar for 28 years and have never tried to use any amp returns or pedals I always just plug and play, this facet is all new to me.

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum! You can't really hurt anything except your tone :) I'm not familiar with the Zoom, but if it has its own FX loop then you would probably want to use the '4 cable method'. Take your FX send from the zoom into the FX return into the GT, then FX out to the FX in of the zoom. Basically plug it in like anything you would put in your loop.

Most folks would route the time based effects within Zoom so that they go out the loop instead of the main output and send drives and compressors etc out the normal output of the Zoom. That way reverbs and delays go through the loop and any distortion or boosts get sent to the front of the amp. There are of course no hard and fast rules that say you CAN'T put any effect in the loop, this is just the usual way. Experiment and see what sounds best to you.

Here's a very basic tutorial of the 4 cable method from Dawson's. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fY_xM8HP0SI

Have fun!!

Oh and one other important thing. If your zoom has any cabinet modeling or speaker emulation, TURN IT OFF when you are using it with the GT.

I believe the "4 cable method" goes like this:

Thus, 4 cables.
