Hi, looking for a little help. I've owned my GT40 for over a year now and recently have been using it with some Beats Solo3 headphones I purchased so I can practice any time of the day without disturbing anyone. The question I have is if anybody knows how the beats might color my sound or even the EQ of the headphones? When I play while wearing them the sound I get is amazing, but when I take them off and listen through the speaker of the amp itself it sounds underwhelming... Any tips on how to correct or minimize the change in sound from headphones to amp? Thanks!

Beats definitely color the sound. How much depends on the model. In general, I would liken it to what an aural exciter does. Overemphasizes certain frequencies etc to make the sound more crisp and provide that booming bass the kids go for these days

Choose two passages you can play with consistancy,
one emphasizing low notes, and the other high notes.

Record each one using the usb cable, and then
the headphone output, with a clean preset,
and repeat with a high-gain-crunch preset

Import the eight tracks into audacity or other audio editor,
and do some comparative listening, using typical
under-$20 earbuds, and then your beats, and also
other headphones if you have some you're familiar with.

You might also chain them together, and make an
mp3, and load it on a cell phone.

take some notes, and build a frame of reference
for when you do serious recordings.

I find some good info in this forum sometimes:
