The sound never quite kept me interested after i got the katana, but once V2 came out it sounded a lot better thanks to the bassbreaker. Still wasn't going to keep it till i tried the 4 ohm celestion and now i may even sell the katana because the GT has always been more my type of tone. Plus now with those changes i like the FEEL a lot more then the katana. So actually the only thing that even gave me any incentive before that is the far far better switching and functionality of the GT. Once the tone and feel got right with V2/speaker the only thing left is how it does in a band mix. If it fails the katana will stay. If it;s very close or better the GT stays. I sweat if fender put a good speaker in it and gave it a good quality A/B output section with about 150 watts or more and redesigned it to look like a fender amp i bet the sales numbers would explode. I think the basic modeling is better then the boss stuff. But boss builds a quality power amp and thats here they shine. I think the GT's input isn't quite right too because it doesn't take pedals remotely as good as the katana. That i can live w/o but it would be nice if they improved it.

Check the guitar sounds out on this recording I made with my Mustang GT100, and EC Stratocaster. The rhythm guitars, and lead guitar part using a mic in front of the amp and recorded with my Tascam Dp24sd.

Personally, that's not what I'm interested in with the GT...I think when using a modelling amp, it's better to "go all in", meaning, use the pedals/stompboxes available on the amp itself....I'll leave the pedals to be used with actual (tube) amps & whatnot...

But yeah, the switching, functionality, and sheer number of "useable" sounds u can get with the GT is the reason why I'm still here posting...

Same here for the most part, but like i said i DO use one pedal to clean boost the input when i want real singing sustain on occasion. When i do that with my katana the tone develops a lot more harmonics and becomes extremely intense like u get when clean boosting a tube amp. With the GT it just sustains a bit more but doesn't get near as intense and alive. Thats not a huge concern for me since it's not a sound i use a lot. But it would be nice if my clean boost worked better.

let me ask u...does the GT get somewhat close to the K with the boost....say, 70-80% in your estimation?

the thing with the Mustang is that it'll get u close to a lot of "amps"...and then some.....I can get so many "useable" sounds that I don't know what to do anymore....make more presets or just stick to a couple good ones....either way, for the first time ever, each song in my set list has an entirely different patch accorded to it....and I mean "entirely different".....we're talking 30 or so presets....

Fender should be paying me for this...hello? Is there anybody out there?

I'm not sure what u r asking, but if u mean how would i rate how well the GT doe using a outboard clean boost for singing sustain compared to the katana, it's a bit more complicated than giving a %. The kat takes it great no matter the model or setting. Always works the same, very good. The GT can get about 70% as good at times. What i mean is it depends on the amp model and it's settings. And i;m really not the person to ask about pedals in general because the ONLY pedal i ever use and have for years is a clean boost. I never use pedals for distortion of thier own, only to push the amp into higher gain. In any case it;s not bad for what i use, but the kat just gets really alive ad rich with a clean boost in a way the GT can't match. But it's perfectly acceptable.

At this point tho with the new speaker and the bluesbreaker model which is pretty much all i use, i'm getting a feel and tone for the first time with the GT thats one of those somewhat rare times where you found a amp and setting that just feels "right" to you, like what you are always looking for. You know that feeling where you can't stop playing and it never gets old? That's how you know you have something special and thats how i have felt since that speaker went in. It still hasn't had the ultimate test tho and it will be a while till i get to test it in a band context. If it works the way i'm hoping i think i will be selling the katana. Ther GT has always has a certain touch that is what i look for much more then the katana. It just needed to also SOUND as good or better in some ways. Putting that speaker in it was like one of those movie moments where the guy and girl's eyes meet across a crowded room and they both know something special has happened. Match made in heaven to my ears and fingers at least.

well, at the risk of repeating myself, I'm already "there"....I really like the GT's tone...with one caveat: haven't tested the GT in a band setting enough...or lets say I've been more preoccupied by other aspects of our show...haven't paid as much attention to my own sound as much as I would like/need to actually...but I hear ya
