I have struggled to get this to work reliably. I can connect my tablet to the Mustang using the tone app, or as an audio streaming device, but not at the same time. I seems to connect up at first but very soon after something loses it's connection, usually the streaming.

Anyone able to do this? What about using 2 devices, say my phone for control, and the tablet for streaming, does that work?

The GT's Bluetooth can only handle one channel at a time, streaming AND control would require two channels no matter where they come from. Fortunately, the amp has an AUX channel that can be connected to (more reliably) with a cable.

Yep, that's what I resorted to. Thanks for the confirmation.

I generally use an Aux cable as well to connect my iPad to my GT40, because I’m often using the excellent Capo app, or playing along with a YouTube instructional video, or a video I’ve recorded of my teacher demonstrating something, or something else where it’s critical that the iPad screen and audio are synced up. Maybe someday there will be low-latency BT but we ain’t there yet :?

I actually plug a small mixer into the aux. I feed my tablet into the mixer along with a microphone. Because the GT100 is fairly full range, vocals work well through it.

Check out the Mustang GT Facebook public group:

See this post and thread.

You may have to login to Facebook.

If there are any problems with the links, just use Facebook search to look for the group which is entitled "Fender Mustang GT 40, 100, 200 Amps". It is a very friendly, helpful group.

Note in particular this comment in the above thread about Android Bluetooth connection issues:

Quote:
"Update.

Since writing the above, I have noticed a pattern: the app rarely connects automatically after the amp is turned on. It has to be connected manually in the Tone app Settings > Bluetooth. It then connects after one or two attempts.

But interestingly, I can now use the app to control which preset is playing for any length of time AND stream media audio (e.g. YouTube backing tracks) while playing along. That is, just using Bluetooth without using the aux port. And I can do so without any further fiddling with settings. Just minimise the Tone app, open up the YouTube app and play a backing track. This is since I followed your suggestion to turn OFF the phone's Bluetooth, restart the amp, connect manually to the amp in app Settings > Bluetooth and let the Tone app turn on Bluetooth itself. This latter step appears to be the key to the mystery.

Make sure to pair the amp to the phone in Android Bluetooth settings first before doing anything. This only has to be done once. Users will see a pass code so that only your device can pair to the amp. Accept it.

Then turn off Bluetooth on your phone and let the app turn it back on when it tries to connect. Hope this helps other users."
