I would like to use my GT-40 to play during a church service, and send the aux out to the Churches PA system just like I would do with something like a Line6 Helix, or other guitar effects. Will this work?

Regards,

Randy.

The headphone output is standard 1/8th " stereo,
so it's just a matter of getting adaptors and cables
suitable for the PA input connectors.

Put the sounds you'll use most near the middle of
the rotary dial, to save it's lifespan, like slots 87-107,
or 1-20.
Cheers

Thank you. I have the adapters, so that should work just fine.

If that's the way you want to go, keep in mind: The more adapters/cable length you have, the more weight you are adding and 1/8" is a small thin connector. So try to provide a little stress relief on the side that's connected to the amp. Maybe use some Velcro to tie the cable to the handle so it doesn't pull on the jack.

Also the wire itself is a point of failure. Those are generally very thin cables, so in the event that the bass player (it's always the bass player) walks into your cable and snaps it, you may want to have a spare on hand. Just hope the dopy bass player didn't break anything.

Personally I think that sounds like a scary way to go, but eh it's just church right? Worst case you might have to awkwardly put your guitar away while your band plays on.

Yeah I'm familiar. All the more reason to not have all your gear pumping through a 3.5mm audio cable.

My suggestion is to use a mic in that situation. The amp should be loud enough for a monitor and its plenty loud for any PA.

Or just get an amp that is designed to do what you want to do.

GT100 has XLR out:

The tip is 1/8th, all that follows can be heavy duty. You're right
about securing cables such that connectors can't be yanked.
A mic setup leaves a lot of room for issues
that modeling amps help to obviate.
Assuming good sounds, with a sound team on
the same page, a simple setup helps
everyone involved.

Using the headphone output will stop the GT40
being it's own monitor, so if it's decided monitoring
is needed, the Gt100 with xlr outs might be worth
buying or trading up to. Manpower and budgeting
etc

The problem is heavy cables and tiny connectors don't mix. You're welcome to roll that way, but for my money another $100 gets you a lot more amp. By the time you're ready to plug into the PA ... I would hope you are ready for a $350 amp.

 Indeed.

I tie off any vertical inputs, and use right-angle pins
where my clumsiness might prevail. Cables are taped to the floor
and desks. Nothing has permission to have an accident.
Any more.

I got the GT40 because I'm 100% headphones, but a lot of other use cases
would be met with the 100/200. Maybe some shops will have
amps in the black friday lists.
Cheers
