I was pleased to find as I changed the "Sag" parameter on the tweed deluxe, that I experienced moreof the tube-like compression the higher I set the sag - so much like real life amps with tube rectifiers and minimal power supply regulation.

Yeah the sag/bias settings are IMO what sets these amps apart from your average solid state amp + effects.

Try this if you haven't already:
1. Turn SAG all the way up and BIAS all the way down. Now play a little.
2. Do the opposite, BIAS all the way up and SAG all the way down. Then play a little.
3. Go with the one that sounds better to you and use it as a starting point, or just leave it that way.

OK, yeah I will try that. I am trying to nail down the sound I loved playing a real Hot Rod Deluxe once, and I almost have it.

I had a similar experience but it was a Hot Rod DeVille. My old Mustang III v1 never quite nailed it. Now I have a vintage Super Reverb Amp which still doesn't get that same sound but I actually like it better than the DeVille.
