With the new update, I can now backup my whole preset library. And I can reset the amp with a new bank of Fender presets. What I'd like to do, though, is try the new Fender presets and mix them with my own.

How can I do this? At present, it seems the only way to get the new Fender presets is to reset the amp and wipe out my existing bank. I can restore my bank from the backup, but that also overwrites the new Fender presets.

This is covered in the release notes:

"Note Regarding Factory Presets : If you wish to retain your personal presets AND get the new factory presets we recommend you follow these instructions.

Perform a firmware update to 2.0 or higher by powering on your Mustang GT while holding down the main Encoder.

Using the TONE app, save your persona lpresets to the TONE Community

Power off amp and then power back on while holding down the
TOP/LEFT soft-key. This will save the new factory presets to your

Using the TONE app, download your personal presets back to your
amplifier in your desired location.

Known Issues: Order is not always retained when moving presets within a setlist."

I appreciate your willingness to help, but restoring a saved bank overwrites everything, including the Fender presets that resetting the amp just installed. Hence the question: "How can I SELECTIVELY add the new Fender presets?" Backup and restore won't do it.

Yup. You have to backup your presets to the cloud, install all the new Fender presets, then download yours from the cloud. Then you can remove the Fender presets that you don't want. A pain, I agree, but I can't see the new Fender presets in the tone app for download.

Except that when you "download yours from the cloud," they will replace all of the new presets that aren't in your backup set. Do you see the problem? Backup and restore is of whole banks, not individual presets.

You don't restore the backup from the cloud, sorry probably wasn't clear. You need to individually save each preset to the tone community, then download it after you have applied the new presets.

Yeah, I thought about that. I just don't want to flood the tone community with patches I don't consider finished.

I felt the same way, but Fender have not provided any other way to do this, and it is their recommended approach. I agree that the tone library will get filled with crappy experimental presets this way. I find it quite surprising that there have been a few downloads of my presets for our original songs (and even 1 like!)

I guess the point is that the cream will float to the top based on popularity.

I haven't upgraded yet.
if I hit menu, scroll to Cloud Presets/Fender Presets, there they are, and you can scroll and preview them. I just downloaded one into my amp bank.
Now the question is, are those the new presets?

Hi Guys,

The 43 new factory presets are now available for download either via the Cloud Presets function on the amp in the "Fender Presets" folder and also via the Tone app in the RECENT section.

As noted above, the original release notes for firmware 2.0.21 had a section on how to "retain your personal presets AND get the new factory presets." The note included:

"Power off amp and then power back on while holding down the TOP/LEFT soft-key. This will save the new factory presets to your"

It also recommended uploading personal presets to the cloud before doing the above and then re-downloading personal presets after the update (presumably because doing the above reset all presets?).

Two questions:

1) Is the TOP/LEFT soft-key the Preset Layer button?

2) The note has since been changed and recommends simply downloading the new presets from the Fender Presets folder from the cloud. Does this mean that for v2 new presets were added but all existing factory presets were left unchanged?
