Thanks all who replied - I tried the amp / phone again today, and they seem to have fixed something as now it let me get all the way to registration, without prompting me to update with no actual updates - and now all is fine.

Still going through all the new stuff - but I like how the Presets are now named - and I LOVE the new presets

- pretty much all the Presets sound better than in the old firmware (unless I'm imagining things...?)

You may be, at least to my ear they're the same as always. I haven't spent much time on the old ones tho so i'll have to listen close and see if i'm missing something. But the few minutes i spent on my former fav the bassman, (new fav being the BB155) it sounded like it always did to me. Maybe if i retweak it i'll find itl;s more tweakable and i'll be able to get more from it. I'll have a go at it and see.

Using the new cabs, I honestly think all the presents sound better than the originals. That isn't my imagination.

After upgrading my GT-100 I am now a happy camper.
I must admit that at first I thought it was doing the same thing, when trying to save changes it went right back into the wait mode.(I thought it was trying to save my changes)...
I was thrilled to realize I should NOT be using that approach (clicking back to previous screen), I discovered the place to save changes from my Android phone in the tone app. Now it works fine for me... So, ya operator error, on my part... Not sure if those options were there b4 and I just missed them.
Also seems to run quicker. I love it with my new VM Jag.( great combo )
Thanks Fender!

One gripe tho....still many functions are wonky as hell when you adjust them. Go super slow on the wheel or else it goes from 0-10 instantly. Why has this never been fixed? Seems like you fix a few of them then other ones go wacky. Not a big gripe but it would be nice and save a lot of time tweaking.

I hadn't noticed this before, but did after you mentioned it.

I agree that the parameter controls do seem overly touchy now...a specific example would be the 'depth' on the Memory Delay, I spun the encoder a fairly small amount and the needle jumped about halfway across the dial.
Unless my eyes were playing a trick on me I also saw the position jump after it had settled on one occasion as I was playing around.

Well I updated my big GT200 last night and took a tour of the presets. At first it all sounded bassy and muffley until I found that the Global EQ was reset to default. I tried all of the EQs and settled on Guitar Focus 2 again but I felt that I might keep Guitar Focus 1 in mind for a future revisit. It makes me wonder how much different the GT40 sounds vs. the GT200 because I couldn't imagine someone making presets that bassy on the 200 on purpose.

All in all, after about two hours of noodling through the presets with several guitars, I came away fairly impressed. It didn't suck and I don't think that I want to sell my GT200 anymore, which is saying something. Clearly, someone took the time to to clean up the presets, especially in volume settings so that very few settings surprised me with a volume spike like they did before. The BB amps sound really nice and the Mythic Overdrive was pretty fun. It made a lot more sense that the first 10 or 20 presets were more varied than what it used to be. If I was their sales guy, I'd want the best of the presets up front for when a potential buyer was auditioning it because they're going to form their first impressions on those initial presets. Dialing through ~30 vanilla cleans to get to a distortion... really? (Fender, if you can pay me more than my current job and pay for moving expenses, I'll hire on and make you guys a load of money knocking out stuff like that! Call the position the Snotty-Youtube-Gear-Reviewer-Reboxing-Video Defense Coordinator  )

Tonight I'll look into making my own presets. I let the update blow away my old ones with the intention of starting with a clean slate. I haven't had an issue with the modulation and time effects, in fact I think that they are pretty impressive, but I'll be curious to see how much tone I can get using the v2 amps and cabs. More to come...
