I am hoping for some help with my amp. Let me start by saying that everything is still very new. My girlfriend got me the Mustang GT 40 for Christmas. Then in Jan I bought myself an HSS silverburst american professional strat. I love both, awesome equipment. However, a few months ago I was playing and all of a sudden had some really bad volume issues. When I started playing all was ok, then about 10 mins in the volume dropped out. very soft. But when I played a string it would be very low, after a second or 2 it would go loud. this is very distracting to try to play, every note I play starts very low, then pops loud. If i stop and simply play 1 sting it happens every time, starts low, after a second pops to normal loud volume. this happens without touching any settings on the guitar or the amp.
I have tried 3 differant cords, 1 of them was a brand new 30 dollar cord i bought just for troubleshooting. always the same thing about 10 mins in the volume drops out and when i play a note it is very low then very loud.
I tried to update the software, for a little while this would work it would play normal for a while, but it got to the point that I had to update software every time i played, and then it no longer worked.
I emailed Fender and they asked what software version i used, and it was the latest. they sent me a very simple troubleshooting guide. I did an overall reset to the amp, this did not help.
I have not been playing much due to my busy work and home schedule, but when i get time i would like to play, I cannot because this continues to happen.
Last week I tried to play, after 10 mins the same thing. So I tried my kids frontman 15g, played for 45 mins with no problems, switched back to the GT and Wham! volume issues.
This is very frustrating to have an expensive guitar that I cannot play. I love the functions of the AMP and being able to use all the settings. I love to stream my phone through the Bluetooth and play along. I also have the foot switch made for the GT series and it is the only thing besides headphone to ever be plugged into the amp.
Has anyone else had problems like this? Where can I go to get help? I have done as much troubleshooting as I can think of doing. There has to be some kind of warranty issue and I would really like to play again as this is really holding me up.
Has anyone had problems like this?
Thanks for any help you folks can give me, it is appreciated.

The 10 minute interval suggests that something is warming up and failing after power up. It could be a simple solder connection, but don't mess with it. Get out your warranty and use it. That's what its for, to avoid frustration.

I experienced the same problem. I bought a GT 100 2½ weeks ago. The first day that I played it, I ran into an issue where the volume would drop out for a second or so any time I hit chords or multiple notes. Single string picking worked fine. This happened a couple of different times and a power cycle would make the problem go away (for a while). Then, starting the next day, just like jdhd003, playing single string notes would make the volume go very soft as I picked the note and then it would rise back up to normal volume and you could hear the sustain. This problem would start in anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes of playing. A couple of times, I just kept playing and the problem would go away for a while, maybe 5 minutes or so, then it would come back. Most of the time however, I had to do a power cycle to make the problem go away. But then it would come back again.

I did a factory reset and then played one of the presets for about 45 minutes and experienced no problems. I then created one of my own presets, keeping the gain at a low setting (3.0). I played that setting for about 15 or 20 minutes with no issues. I then increased the gain to about 5.2 and experienced the problem within 5 minutes. Once I hit the problem, it didn’t matter what preset I played, even with 0 gain, the problem persisted. Same issue with headphones or the amp speaker.

I don’t think it is a physical problem with the amp (soldering, etc.) because the problem goes away for 5 or 10 minutes after a power cycle. It’s not going to cool off that much in the half minute it takes to power back up. Also, the fact that it played with no problem until I added my own preset after doing a factory reset. Seems to me it is somehow software related.

I returned my amp for a refund a week ago.

It's a bummer but no reason to do a full return. Any modeling amp by any brand could easily have the same issue.

It's not like there are tons of people complaining about that same issue with this amp line. Just a couple which about right considering how many units they move.

I am experiencing the same problem. I bought the amp two weeks ago. It was at Base Ver 1.0.39
Release notes said upgrade via the wifi etc - did all that to latest ver. Now the problem. Volume drops very low for a few seconds. Tried different leads, other guitars - same thing.
The leads and guitars play OK through my Fender Deluxe III.
It's seems as if all the tones and effects drop out and just the basic sound plays (at a low volume) then a couple of seconds later they kick back in. Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

I had the same issue. I have found that if I disconnect from Bluetooth the problem goes away. You can then reconnect. I've also seen on these boards that it could be a wifi issue so you could turn that off as well. Try those possible solutions and see if it solves your problems.

Return it, and try to find an open-box amp you can test.
A good shop will open a new one, if you show them the money,
and your good intention$

Lets hope there's no re-boxing and re-selling of the returns.
"Hey Wilbur, plug it in, play some notes, turn some knobs, press some buttons..."
60 seconds later, 'Yeah, Thumper, it still works, re-sell it?'

It’s been a while but wanted to update this. I sent it to fender support and after they had it for quite a while they said that they think it was an power issue with my WiFi. They said they could not make it happen and to try it with the WiFi turned off. This did help a little but I have had other issues as well blue tooth not connecting all the time and other stuff. I have been frustrated with the amp and it just does not seem to be reliable. But I don’t have to worry anymore I was given a new 65 reverb deluxe for Christmas so that will be my go to from now on.

Any digital amp that uses ribbon cables and push on connectors is likely to have such problems. I've seen it many times but it is usually easily fixed by cleaning the contacts on the multi-way connector. If you are not comfortable poking around inside an amp with a wooden chopstick to find the culprit, return it under warranty or get someone else to do it.

RE: GT Mustang Sound Cutting Out

I just received a brand new Mustang GT 200. I updated the firmware and started playing around with it. From the start, the sound cut out for one second every few minutes. It happened no matter what the setting. Then I noticed it wasn't every few minutes. It was every five minutes, on the nose. After visiting a number of forum sites and playing around with a lot of settings, I figured out this is a wi-fi issue. The way the amp reacts with my wi-fi (which is AT&T Fiber) every five minutes, it cuts out. 7:00, 7:05, 7:10, 7:15, etc. Also, it happened every five minutes on the fives no matter if the amp had been restarted or not. Turned off the wi-fi on my amp and the problem went away.

If you are having this problem, check it by your watch. Turn off your wi-fi and see if it fixes the issue. Go figure!

Ok so this seems to be a problem still. I've had mine almost a year and it is starting to do this now. It is almost as if someone is turning the volume on and off as I hit notes. Super aggravating.

Anyone every hear anything viable from Fender? :
