I'm an old noodler who hasnt turned his amp on in a few years. Walked in to a GC to see where things are at this century. Thought if I could find something I could use with headphones I might want to noodle some more. The guys found some headphones and pointed me at the gt40. It only took a few minutes to realize this thing is amazing. Took it home and noodled till my fingers bled. Headphones definitely make a difference, tried many of my mediocre headphones and ultimately am using only a mdr 7506, each to his own but these sound right to me, everything else I've got sounded muddy on the bottom end. I will probably only rarely use the speakers.
Here is a thought for whoever might be interested. I would love to keep this thing right on my desk next to the computers for easy access to noodle. Makes me think:
I would love one of these that was a little desktop box for headphones only (think headphone amp size with controls etc, but no speakers or necessity for powerful transformer etc, ie smaller and lighter package).
Maybe with some following features:
a) I'm a little worried the headphone and aux jacks on the gt40 wont last forever, ideally they should be physically mounted to the case and connected to circuit board via wires so physical force of thousands of pluggings/unpluggings don't strain the solder to pcb to break. So far so good but its such a common failure, maybe they already got it right on the gt40 I dont know I havent opened it. Just a thought.
b) how about stereo rca variable or line outs? Could plug it in to my desktop computer speakers if I wanted to make a little noise or show friends or whatever.
c) Allow audio in from usb instead of bluetooth or aux. I dont know maybe it already does this and I havent figured that out yet. I've done the BT and aux and love it.
d) I dont know but if I'm having this be a desktop box talking to my computer, maybe it can be a headphone amp for computer audio out? So I can listen to music as normal while I work (either through headphones or through those audio outs to the stereo or powered speakers) and occasionally when I want a break plugin the guitar and take a noodle break to jam out a bit.
e) I havent and probably wont do any recording but I suppose I might if it were sitting right there and I wanted to mess with it. There are probably a few features people who do this would find useful? idk

bottom line I"m thinking if this were a little box on my desktop that was also a nice headphone dac/amp for the computer I would probably buy that.

Meanwhile my gt40 will sit upstairs on the bottom of my computer rack within reach of where I work and I am very happy. Maybe I'll just get another to keep in the basement too. Love this thing, cant believe it really works so well for so little. Cheers all and happy noodling.

Hi, all of the jacks can easily be protected from over-use
and accidental tugs, by adding short extensions, and tying
things off so that no unwanted pressure ever yanks a jack,
that should be job 1.

Then you can saw the top off, and put a new lid/handle combo
on top of the newly portable cabinet. Put a hinged and well ventilated
bottom panel on your new amp head.
Cheers
