Has anyone successfully run the app for this amp on a cheap tablet such as the Amazon Fire 7?

Hi. I wouldn't recommend running on a Kindle. While Kindle has a look and feel similar to Android, Fire OS is a separate operating system based off of Android core. On top of that, It doesn't use the Google Play store for app distribution. You would likely have to side load the app if you can get your hands on the APK file, and even then it may not run properly. Plus you would not have any Fender support. If you want to try it you would need a Kindle running Fire OS version 6.2 or higher.

For a regular Android tablet check the Android OS version. Tablets are usually a few releases behind what is currently shipping for Android phones. You would need an Android tablet running Marshmallow (6.0) or higher so something 3 or 4 years old is likely not going to have a new enough OS to run Tone.

If you find a tablet with Marshmallow or higher, I don't see any reason why it would not run. Graphically it may not be optimized for the larger tablet screen, but honestly, many Android apps aren't. In other words, it may not look exactly the same as on a phone, but should run fine.

I just bought another GT after getting rid of mine last year. It will be here tomorrow. I have low end Android 7.0 tablet lying around so I'll install Tone on it and report back if I find any major issues with it.

Hope this helps!

Cheers

AJB

I loaded it up on my year old LG GPad X tablet that runs Android 7 and aside from the shortcomings of the app itself, it ran just fine. I was able to edit, browse cloud patches etc with no issues. The app is not optimized for tablet screens and the Play Store told me so before I downloaded it, but I did not notice any graphics or sizing issues.

The tablet is very slow so I am going to run it from my phone moving forward, but that's not an app issue, it's a crappy tablet issue :) Just be aware that tablets are generally slower moving than phones unless you have a very high end one.

Have fun!!
