Hi, there

First Fender purchase - Mustang GT 40 amp.

Connected Samsung Galaxy phone fine using Bluetooth - as the phone itself "receives" the 6 digit pin number from the Amp...all you do is accept it on your phone - perfect.

HOWEVER...I am trying to connect Windows 10 PC to the Amp - and it keeps asking me for the Amp's PIN number...but Windows (unlike the Samsung phone) doesn't display the PIN...

...so how do I connect?!

Thanks!

I don't think you can connect with Windows.

There is no PC based app for Mustang GT amps at this time. Mustang v1 and v2 have a PC app, but no Bluetooth. I wonder if it could be done with an Android Emulator? Hmmmmmm.

Thanks, Guys

In the online GT 40 manual, it says Windows CAN stream to the Amp - and yet I don't see those options (Windows 10 Creators Edition)

- I have now managed to connect the Amp to my PC with Bluetooth (using "Join a Personal Area Network", instead of the "direct" method which asks for a password) - but although the PC can see the Amp, still can't seem to stream to it.

When I connect my Window 10 laptop to my GT100, I can stream audio from my laptop to the amp, but that's it. You cannot control or adjust you amp from the PC.

can you post a link to that manual? I can't find that in the version I'm looking at.

It may be a misuse of the word "stream". Perhaps they mean if you connect a 3.5mm cable from the "headphone out" on your computer to the "AUX" input on the amp, you can play music on the PC and it will come out the amp's speaker. Is that what you're looking to do?

That's exactly what I need to do - are you doing it via Bluetooth? Can you tell me the steps please??

I thought I had seen it in the manual, but here it is on a Q and A -

https://tone-support.fender.com/hc/en-u ... Bluetooth-

notice the part where it states -

"4. Select "Listen to Music" to stream audio"

- I don't see that option in Windows 10 Creators Edition...

Do you interpret Blue Tooth streaming the same way I did, based on the content of that link...?

Thanks - I had no idea there were Android Emulators...so I downloaded "Bluestack" - and the Fender Tone app - but it just hangs at "connecting".

It seems there is some sort of issue streaming over Bluetooth between Windows Bluetooth, and the Amp's Bluetooth - but this is not the case for my Mobile phone, which streams to the amp fine.

I'm sorry, I totally misunderstood what you're looking to do. You want to connect your laptop to the amp and use it as a "bluetooth speaker".

I believe (from what I have read here) you can either:

1. Use the Fender Tone app or
2. Use the amp as a bluetooth speaker

But not both at the same time. So your problem may be that you've connected to the amp using the Tone app, and while that's connected trying to also connect to the amp and use it as a bluetooth speaker. As far as I know you can not do both simultaneously, you have to choose one.

Yes, that is what I want to do - use the Amp as a speaker for the Laptop (well, actually for a Desktop with a USB Bluetooth dongle attached).

I had turned off the Fender Tone app on my phone - so that isn't interfering.

The problem is that while the PC can "see" the amp, and via Bluetooth connects to it...I am still unable to play music from the PC to the Amp.

Hi, I think the answer to your problem is as above, but you may not have understood the answer.
Question: have you been able to use your USB Bluetooth dongle to connect and stream music to any other devices?
That would prove your dongle works. If so, when doing this, I believe your computer speakers would turn off & the sound would then go to the connected Bluetooth device, right? The same would apply to connecting to the GT amp.
Once Bluetooth is connected, you would play your music as you did in windows, only the music would be routed through the connected USB device(GT amp).
As far as controlling your GT amp with any windows computer, as stated above, that is not yet possible (IMHO).
Hope this clears this up for you...

I agree with above and want to add, if the dongle isn't working with any device, maybe it's a Windows driver issue. Check for an update to your Bluetooth driver for the PC and also any drivers for the dongle.

A good question - this was the only Bluetooth device I had tried audio from the PC with.

Now my PC speakers happen to be both line-in (3.5 mm jack input) AND Bluetooth - and until your question, I had never attempted to stream the PC's sound over the speakers' Bluetooth.

But I have just connected it via BT now - and the answer to your question is YES, my PC does stream to these speakers via BT.

So it is just the Fender amp that is not being output to...

Think I may have narrowed down what is missing...

In "Device Manager" on Windows 10 Build 1803 under "Bluetooth" - both my mobile phones and my Bluetooth speakers are all shown

- but directly under EACH of them is something called "Avcrp Transporter Adapter" - hopefully you can view this in the "Flickr" image I have uploaded -

https://www.flickr.com/photos/162642112@N02/?

The Mustang GT is shown under Bluetooth - but does NOT have any "Avrcp" line under it...

I googled, and this page lists the various Bluetooth profiles for my edition of Windows 10 -

https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/10568

A little way down you can see "Avrcp" listed as -

Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP 1.6.1)

So now the question is - how do I associate this "Avcrp" to the Mustang GT entry?
