Absolutely. Another reason a 100 watt version of this amp just doesn't make sense.

The article says there's no button to press to pair a device...on my GT40 I'm sure I had to press the data wheel to pair it with my phone?

Whether there is a button or not, there is no way to lock it (as far as I know). So any idiot in the audience could potentially start streaming whatever they want to your speaker in the middle of your set.

Why would you have Bluetooth streaming switched-on during a set?

Some people stream backing tracks to their amp and play along live while singing. A one-person-band kind of setup. I've seen people doing that for years but it used to require some additional gear (tape machine or laptop through the PA).

Anybody that uses Bluetooth in a live environment is really asking for trouble. OnSong gave up on Bluetooth and moved to WiFi – but WiFi isn't always available at gigs. I used to used a radio link on my guitar until I started getting taxis messages coming through at gigs. Hard wire is the way to go!

I keep BT turned off so no problems here. IMO Fender should have left that feature for the GT40 or better yet left it out altogether instead of turning a guitar amp into a multimedia center.

#FakeNews  A pairing request function was added to the GT back in June of 2017 (V1.2.25), shortly after launch.
