You hold down the top buttons on either side of the data wheel while turning the amp on and hold them for 5 seconds. That would be the top "layer" button on the left, and on the right the top button is the "FX" button.

Just be sure you realize this will not only erase any patches you have made, but it will go back to the base firmware and you will lose all the features implemented in later updates. To get back to the latest update you will need a cable to connect the amp to computer and download fenders "patch utility" otherwise you will have to stay on the original firmware. Heres the page about the patch utility... https://tone-support.fender.com/hc/en-u ... h-Utility-

There are about 4 or 5 different ways to restore the amp and update, all of which are shown near the bottom of the GT's user manual. You should download it !

Thanks, I’ve overloaded it with downloaded patches so easier to start from beginning. Plus handy to know if I sell it on.
Don’t understand having to connect to pc as updates done vis Wi-fi?

Wifi is the way you normally update. However, if your firmware is below a certain number, which when u restore it WILL be, it will not update with wifi. So you have to use the patch utility on a computer and connect the amp via usb to flash the amp with the patch utility. That will enable you to then update via wifi. The actual reason for this was never told to us, but i think the obvious reason is likely this....i believe they changed the server address of the updates. So earlier firmware versions have the old update address thats different from the new server so they wont update via wifi., The patch utility updates the amp to the first firmware version that has the new update server address. Thats my theory anyways.

It will. If you do the restore function it puts it back to out of the box status, IE: initial firmware version and all presets back to stock. So yes, it will erase all of the presets you made. So if you have any that are important to you u better write the settings down before you restore.
