I'm partial to Bright Boost 2, but I also like Guitar Focus 2.

Guitar Focus 2 all the way for me.
It helps, but I'm still trying to get things to sound better. Lately I've been turning any preset I'm working with to use Less Sag in the amp settings to increase the dynamics.

Definately on the sag. I Never use anything but minimum sag because it just kills dynamics without which i;d be selling the GT immediately. I like the feel with some sag but wat i noticed is thats really more just a product of volume because when you add sag the volume goes down quite a bit. Then if you up the volume back up to where it was before you added sag, the sag feel is gone ! So i'm not sure what value that feature even has other then to ruin the dynamics. I noticed the same thing with the old mustang line. As to the global EQ, if i use it at all i use the bright CUT ! I guess thats because i tend to like the amp model's controls to be set quite bright because otherwise it kills the liveliness. Then i cut any brightness in other ways like adding the GE7 EQ at the very end of the chain and cutting the 3.2 and 6.4k frequencies about 3 or 4 DB each as one example. I find that works much better then the opposite, IE: setting the model's controls to sound dark and the global EQ bright. If i do it that way riding the volume control for clean to scream doesn't sound balanced tonally. With the global EQ set to any of the brighter settings i can't get anything useful out of the GT no matter how i set the model's settings. Of course there's a lot of other things to consider in how the guitars are wired, what type of music you play and the tones you use, etc etc. But for me the global EQ is worthless for anything but cutting brightness at louder levels.

Can any one tell me what each global eq setting does? Can’t seem to see anything in the manual or online

As a total novice, I use Guitar Focus 2 - because when I was reading all the disparaging comments of the GT series on Youtube, one or two voices of reason recommended to change to that.

I've experimented with the others, and found it sounds the best - the Flat is just plain dull.

I am using Guitar Focus 1. It is working best for me with humbucker guitars. When I use single coils, I either turn down the tone knob on the Tele or I reduce treble and or presence on the amp itself.

It depends on your guitar a lot. With a tele with bright Gotoh pickups, I use flat, or even some cut, but with an sheraton (ES335 type) I need a little bright boost.

I prefer Flat EQ better is subjective, and it varies between amps. Both are "flat" eq'ed. I think you have to go with what just sounds better to you.
