Hello all!
Im gonna buy a new cheap, pratic amp and my initial interest goes for the champion 40. Then i been know about the new GT and look for information on digital amps.
After a big research i found someone sayn the new GT is not better then the old mustang 2 v2 or 3 , and the sounds are not really good ...
Now im asking you what you think about that? Is that true? Is better if i buy the old version?
Thanks for your help!

Mustang GT Sound and features are much better than the older Mustang amps IMO, if you can try one out or buy from a store with a good return policy would be the best way to see whats better.

Had both, tho both 100 watt versions. GT easily wins but both can be problematic at stage levels. GT speaker swap fixes that, but old mustang needed more than that. Both however sound good at low volume but GT wins because the speaker, while thin and harsh at stage volume, sounds fine at practice levels. All of this is one man's opinion but to me the GT wins in the tone dept. For switching however, the old mustang beats the hell out of the GT. But since u r using it for a practice amp i don't think thats a big deal. Plus the GT has a looper if thats you thing. I don't even use mine.

I liked ONE model on the old mustang. It was all i used because i found all the rest from just ok to horrible, most fitting in the latter category. On the GT i find that while i still prefer one model over the rest, there are 3 or 4 more i like almost as much and most of the rest are perfectly acceptable but just not my thing. Effects are better too. So the modeling is IMO far far better overall. And with the addition in the last update of THREE different assignable EQ's, theres almost nothing you can't achieve.

I wouldn’t buy either. Far as the v2 Mustangs, the party is over. There is no support or updating coming for Fender Fuse. Pretty much no discussion happening in the forum. It’s a dead amp line.

On the other hand, you see new updates for the GT line and lots of discussion in the forum. Well that’s what the v1/v2 section of the forum looked like just 5 years ago. How long do you think it will last here? Will there be a GTv2? Or a whole new amp line which would squash this one? I’m getting out of this game, as buying a new amp every 5 years is not an option for me.

For a practice amp - assuming that you're not interested in stage volume - the Mustang GT40 is IMHO hard to beat, especially if you're looking for classic Fender tones - tweeds and blackfaces. As I've said on this forum before, the '59 Bassman model on my GT40 is terrific with both my SSS Strat and my P90 Les Paul. I also really like the tweed Champ, Deluxe, and Twin, and the blackface Deluxe and Princeton. The Hiwatt DR103 is really nice too. I don't do much high gain so I don't have any real opinions on those amp models. The GT40 has almost completely replaced my still-excellent Yamaha THR10C for practice, except for the times when I really need a battery-powered amp. A steal for $250.

I also spent $80 on the foot switch, mostly to unlock the looper; I have a looper pedal, but it's really neat that anything you loop keeps the patch you recorded it with, so for example you can lay down a clean rhythm track and then overlay a gritty lead. Very cool!

For anyone thinking about getting the MGT4 pedal...go on Amazon, buy a brand new MS-4 for $40, and get Fender to mail you a free magnetic overlay for the GT and...save $40.

Ah, they're back! At the time I got mine last fall, the MS-4s were impossible to find for less than $70, and stock was low even then, so I went ahead and paid $80 for the MGT4 and got free 2-day shipping. But definitely a good deal on the old one available now.
