I've owned the GT 40 since late July or early August. Here are some ways to improve the user interface:

1. On the Mustang I, you could press a button and twist the treble knob to adjust mids. Let us do the same on the GT 40.

2. For delay times, make the default something usable: e.g., 300 ms. It's useful to have 1000 ms. delays, but that's not where most people want to start.

3. In the app, enable dragging to change delay times. (I'm using the iOS version.) Currently, the only way to change the delay time is to press + or -. A better practice for app interfaces is to drag left for a quick, coarse decrease and drag right for a quick, coarse increase. Then you could fine-tune with + or -. If dragging can't be implemented...you hired the wrong programming team. But at least accelerate the change of + or - after a half-second of holding down the button.

4. On the app, there should be a way to add an effect and then tweak it without saving the preset onto the amp itself. Crazy as it sounds, that's not possible currently.

5. Create an option to disable tempo display on the 4-button pedal. See https://forums.fender.com/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=108937 for why this is needed.

I'm sure other users have suggestions too. If someone knows where we can send this list to Fender, I'm happy to do that; just point me in the right direction.

Ability to scroll presets from 1 to 200 and vice-versa. Currently, to go from preset 1 to preset 200, you have to scroll through the entire 200 presets instead of just rolling over 1 position.

Landscape mode for tablets.

The ability to tap tempo for tremolo, phaser, etc... when delay is present in the effect chain but turned off

My number one is being able to use the EXP-1 pedal at the very front of the signal chain as a volume pedal. It was such an expensive add-on I can't believe we can't use it for that already.

Number two is the pitch shifter may be easier to use if it's in steps instead of cents. Especially on the iOS app, it's a pain to hold down the + or - buttons to get to where you want it.

Super excited for the next round of updates!

It would also be nice if the amp could be controlled over WiFi.

For home use, WiFi would be the superior way of connecting to the amp plus it won't interfere with Bluetooth audio streaming.

iPad, Android tablet, Mac and Windows Tone apps would also be very handy. And please don't forget to support landscape mode (the same would be nice for Fender Play as well!)

- All kinds of weird things often happen to my presets everytime i turn on the amp: parameters changed/stored on their own (which is the biggest problem), presets saved in a different location and/or under a different name by themselves, etc. basically not a stable interface...
- So it's even more important to to be able to backup your own patches...posting & sharing it on the tone forum is the only way now...this could be done with Fuse, from which btw, your patches are frustratingly not "transferrable" to the GT...
- Once posted on the forum, u can't always delete your shared presets yourself apparently...need to get in touch with a forum moderator or something to that effect
- Also, any further improvements to your presets can't be applied to the existing preset(s)...there's no edit feature...so u need to create an entirely new preset in order to update your preset...
- Biggest problem for me with the 4-button pedal is the proximity of the switches...not at all comfortable or practical for stage use...but that's not something that u can fix via software updates obviously...on the previous generation the included 2-button pedal solved this problem...the current 3 presets per bank setup is again just not practical for quick changes during a live set...
My solution given the physical layout: make the bank up/down function (i.e. simultaneously pressing on 2 buttons) perform the same function as the 2-button switch on the previous mustangs....since it would be easier to hit 2 buttons instead of one, unless you're playing barefoot :)
Also make it so that by holding down the bank up/down a little longer advances the presets 10 at a time either up or down depending....
- Looper needs an "auto start recording" feature...
- Several of the reverbs are not in stereo, at least not when using headphones...room & hall variations are the only ones in stereo...would make sense to have, for instance, ambient or arena be in stereo as well...
Right now U can have stereo ouput by placing one of the other stereo effects such as stereo delay after the reverb in the signal chain.
That being said, sometimes even some of the stereo effects are in mono! Not sure how this all translates when using the "externals" with 2 amps or PA
- Often BT plays my audio automatically when a connection is found...even though I've assigned the master volume to control its output, it's still quite a jolt when this happens...
- BT dropouts occur enough times to warrant mention here...perhaps, these occur when the amp and tone app have some sync'ing issues...
More often than not, I have to restart my cellphone to fix this or I won't be able to use the tone app...
- takes forever to change some parameters, delay time, for example....applies equally to both the encoder on the amp and the +/- using Tone....
- need to be able to change effects modules via tone without having to delete it first...and then adding a new one
- not enough flexibility to make changes on the fly just to experiment via tone without having to "save" everytime a change is made...
- often when changing amps or maybe even other modules on a given preset using tone, the new amp appears with all parameters set on "all the way up", e.g. gain 10, volume 10, treble 10....and so on...ditto with say a distortion pedal or what have you...gain full, volume full, tone full....would be nice to have those initial settings at a more useable level, say, halfway...

The ability to remove a preset you don't want. I know you can CLEAR a preset, but it still leaves the empty place holder, and you can't copy the remaining presets into the empty slots to consolidate the list. Having to scroll thru 200 presets is cumbersome
