Bought Mustang MG 40 to use with Garageband but Ipad sees the Amp but says it can't connect to it because the amp hasn't enough power.
I assume it means it sees my MG 40 as a device that hasn't got a power supply
This is frustrating to say the least
Any ideas ?

Yes, any audio interface requires a powered USB - lightning interface such as The Apple Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter

I know this was a while ago but I never did resolve this problem
I bought a camera adaptor as suggested but still get the same message on the Ipad
It recognised that it is a fender mustang but still saying device has not enogh power.
The camera adaptor is connected to the Ipad and powered up via the lightening connector and the Mustang amp is conected via a micro usb to standard usb lead
I was thinking mabe a powered usb hub might help but I don't want to spend yet more money if this isn't gonna help.
Please tell me where I'm going wrong

A hub should fix the problem, but I have no personal experience with this setup so I can’t say for sure.

https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/1168 ... y-solution

This might help. Other scenarios in a google search:

' ios "not enough power" ' ...lots of 2016 and newer frustrations,
and various solution$

Seems ios is a gimpy lamer in this area.

I would also recommend skipping the usb altogether,
and use the Mustang headphone-out to some
ipad audio-input/gizmo

Good luck!

Try this: stop living in a hipster bubble and insisting on using Apple computers when you can't do something as simple as connecting a USB device without buying 6 or 7 useless adapters. Just let Apple computers die to they can concentrate on building their little glass phones.

Clueless much? This kind of ridiculous platform bashing is not helpful. The iPad is a very useful device for making music; buying a powered USB hub is a minuscule expenditure to hook up a power-hungry USB device, and something that is not unique to the iPad.

As for the implication that the only people who buy Apple products are clueless hipsters...I won’t go through my technology bona fides, but suffice it to say that I can easily win a tech skills and experience stare down with at least 999 out of 1000 non-Apple users, as can many of my just-as-skilled Apple-using coworkers.

TL;DR - Grow up and stop bashing.

I think this is the way I'm gonna go as other people think it will work

I have considered this but usb is supposed to work and gives better control . Or so I'm led to believe.

I fully understand your gripe with Apple . You are preaching to the converted. I never use apple products apart from Garageband. I hate to admit it but it is good . And it's free
I'm strictly android as a rule but haven't found anything as good as Garageband on Android. My Windows/intel laptop sees the Mustang GT no problem but I'm not familliar with any similar recording apps on that platform either.
I'd be more than happy for you to recommend other home recording apps.

Graham

I am pleased to report I have managed to resolve this issue

As I said previously I had bought a camera connection kit adaptor and it still didn't work
Well since then I have managed to borrow a powered usb hub and here's what I find works
Plug the Mustang GT 40 into the hub, plug the hub into the Camera Connection kit adaptor then plug the lightening plug of the adaptor into the Ipad.
Note the usb hub doesn't need to be powered up
The hub seems to con the Ipad into thinking everything has enough power.
Not a fan of Apple stuff and this experience has done nothing to help.
Hope this thread is helpfull to anyone experiencing similar issues

So what if you buy this USB 3 adaptor thing, plug it in, it accepts, but now I can’t seem o record any sound. How do you go about doing that?

Dare I ask if it was a genuine Apple Camera Connection Kit?

I ask because trying to save money, I went through several supposedly compatible connectors to hook up my iPad to a Yamaha keyboard but none worked, I'd either get the message that you get or something else about the device not being compatible. I was not in a hurry to buy the genuine Apple one as it isn't cheap but managed to get a second hand one off eBay which worked straight away and I have had no problems with it whatsoever.

It's annoying that what appears to be a simple connector costs so much but the cheap ones don't work.

That is what it takes to be a true believer in the Cult of the Bitten Apple.
You'll wake up someday and realize what Eve and Snow White went through. So temptingly shiny...
