Hello everyone, this is my 1st ever post. I'm looking for some advise with my gt200 amp. I'm in a very loud rock/metal band and keep getting feedback with the levels I use. I play the amp at half volume. How can I stop this? or is their any pre-made channel options?. We play avenged sevenfold, Metallica, GnR, acdc kinda stuff . :D

If you are getting feedback, it's not the amp, it's the guitar. Feedback is caused by the pickups picking up the sound from your amp and then re-amplifying it. That can be down to body resonance, dodgy pickups or wiring. It will happen with any loud amp. Some guitars feedback very easily, others not so much. Try filtering out the feedback frequency with the parametric eq effect. Start by setting the Q to max and the level to max, sweep the frequencies until it squeals then, turn the level to min for that frequency. That puts a notch on the troublesome frequency.

One additional note: since you're playing hard rock/metal, you might also want to turn up the Noise Gate to High or Super. (The Noise Gate parameter is on page 2 of the amp settings.)

If you are already optimized in your instrument, there is only one way to solve this problem without modifying audio:

Play as loud as "avenged sevenfold, Metallica, GnR, acdc kinda stuff" do.

Stratocaster1983 is correct. Let's move on to the next troubleshooting step. What make and model guitar are you using and what was the approximate year it was built? And just to be sure, we're talking about Feeback howling and not electrical buzzing, Yes?

Feedback-howling could be electric by coil to coil, direct by loose acoustic vibration or - as sometimes willingly used - by triggering the string with loud sound.

The last one is the only one, you can expect with professional equipment like Fender.

Buzzing is noise.

Your guitar either has hot pickups or you have the amp;s gain too high. At band volume levels you can't use as much gain as you do at home. Any time u r getting problem feedback it;s because you are at too high a gain level with respect to the gain level. So you just need to lower the amps gain till it stops and that will be your max gain. There IS another way, tho it's not really the best thing to do. But you can use the parametric EQ to notch out a very narrow band where the feedback is occurring. Set the Q real narrow then cut by a few DB and sweep the frequency range till you hear it stop feeding back. Once you find the problem frequency leave it there and raise the amount of cut back up till it starts to feedback again then when it does back it down a bit from there.

I'm assuming (based on the style of music) that you aren't playing a semi-hollow or hollow body guitar. What about the pickups? Are they single coil (more prone to feedback than humbuckers)? What are the exact specs of the guitar?

Yep, I asked that a few days ago. Still waiting to hear. The guitar brand and specific model/pickup combination makes a big difference in the feedback threshold

as "avenged sevenfold, Metallica, GnR, acdc kinda stuff" is the aim, I would not expect the questioner to play a jazzy guitar.
