Thnx for all your feedback guys. Bit the Apple & invested in an iPad Pro solely to customize my GT200. That's a grand I would have preferred to put towards a new Fender guitar. So I can report back that a 2017 iPad Pro 10.5 256GB WiFi IOS11 does not flawlessly run the Fender Tone app. The current version Tone app can not be rotated & runs only in portrait. When the Tone app is connected to the GT, it disconnects Bluetooth music streaming. So using the iPad Tone app, I can
1. Customize, organize & select presets;
2. Populate, organize & select Setlists;
3. This then configures a bank of 3 presets for the 3 button footswitch for each tune.

Then I display my PDF format music charts by switching iPad apps.
And I had hoped to play some backing tracks from yet another iPad app but can not stream over BT to the GT.
So I need a further media player connected to the GT Aux Input & I guess that will be my trusty Windows Mobile or tablet.

Issues with Tone app on the iPad Pro:--
a) Bluetooth requires re-pairing when switching between music streaming & Tone app use.
b) Tone app & music streaming are mutually exclusive ( do not run concurrently)
c) Many screens do not display fully & are cropped at the bottom. This is critical for many control settings which are NOT visible. For example AMP, only the Gain, Volume & Treble controls are visible, the Middle & Bass controls are not fully visible. This is so for all effects where only the top row of controls are visible & any second row of controls are cut from view.

I would ask that these early observations be brought to the attention of the Fender Executives so that adequate funding & quality control directives are issued to the software GT firmware & Tone app development teams.

I am frankly astonished & distressed that I have this to report. That only iPhone is apparently supported & the Apple app does not run across the IOS platform; Android app is reported in the forum as beta & the Windows platform is totally unsupported by the Tone app. KriKies Fender !!!

I have been using the Tone App on my iPad Pro and iPad Mini since version 1 and it has improved steadily.

You are correct in saying that you can't use the Tone App and stream music at the same time. The simple workaround for that is a cable from the iPad headphone socket to the GT-200 AUX in. Solves several problems.

Instead of using PDFs, I would recommend that you check out OnSong which keeps all your lyrics, chords, backing tracks etc. My other band members also use it and we can sync our songs in real time and scroll them automatically.

I must admit that I haven't had a problem with anything missing off the bottom of the iPad screen with Tone in 2X mode. There are minor cosmetic glitches from time to time but most of these have been fixed.

There are loads of excellent (and cheap) music apps on the iPad, I have a whole pageful. Some require a USB/Lightning adapter but it still works out much cheaper than the PC equivalents.

It would be good if the Tone App supported split screen, like some other apps. Then you could have your music and Tone App on the screen at the same time. Having said that, I would never depend on anything Bluetooth in a live gig situation. Professional quality cables every time!

The footswitch is not reliable enough for live use either, needs some serious attention from Fender. The Tone App is fine for messing around at home to set things up but I prefer to use the controls on the amp on stage.

Enjoy.

I don't have any experience with the Tone App, but agree with you regarding the footswitch. I sent a request to Fender customer service on Thursday regarding the MGT-4 to ask if the faults are going to be addressed in a firmware update. My one freezes quite often, the buttons don't always respond and the looper is glitchy. I don't have too much of a problem waiting if there's a fix in the pipeline but, if not, I need to get my money back as it's fairly useless!

I just got my new GT100 on 12/30/17. Using my iPod I can stream music AND control the amp - switch presets - adjust settings, simultaneously.

I also got the 4-button footswitch and after reading the .pdf directions, it seems to be working as engineered. I just need to get used to the bank/preset selection scheme Fender uses.
