I'm totally passionate about Fender AND Microsoft Windows. Very impressed with my new GT200 amp. There may be many more Windows users out there in FenderLand. I suggest Fender Tone app support & compatibilty with :--
1. Windows Mobile 8.1 & later. WinMob8.1 is latest available to most international users.
2. Windows 8 Desktop & later inc. Win8 & Win10
3. Windows Surface Tablet Windows RT 8.1 & later
Many Microsoft users will have each of these devices, Mobile/Desktop/Tablet, attached to their Microsoft Users Account. But sadly & somewhat surprisingly NO Fender Tone App for Windows.
I would be most appreciative of any feedback from Fender Developers regarding future Windows support. Cheers from Melbourne, Australia.

Fender have chosen not to disclose if any such apps are in developement,
or if they ever will be. Some companies just won't announce things,
and we can assume they have their reasons. Secrecy can be an asset
in a tight market. That said, many Mustang and GT users share your hopes.
I sure do!
Cheers

Thnx Gildorf. I've read many of your excellent posts. In the meantime can you advise a technically good thread on iPAD for Fender Tone App. Or cud you advise whether the iPAD is identical function to iPhone for Tone app ?
I have placed a support query with Fender, but your opinion wud be appreciated.

There is no iPad version of the Tone app, only an iPhone version but on the iPad, apart from rare cosmetic glitches, works perfectly. I run it on an iPad Mini and an iPad Pro.

As stratocaster1983 said, the current incarnation of Tone on iOS is an iPhone app; it runs fine on the iPad, but the user interface is the same as on the iPhone so, for example, it's portrait orientation only. I hope that Fender will eventually release a universal version of the app that adjusts its UI to fit the iPad. In the meantime, it's not a showstopper, just an annoyance, at least for me.

Fender has hinted that they are considering porting Tone to Mac and Windows desktops, but there's been nothing firm. If you're thinking about the Mustang GT amps and don't already have an iOS device or an Android device, I personally would recommend an iPad or iPod Touch (used is fine as long as it supports iOS 11 for future-proofing). Anecdotally, Android connectivity seems to have improved a lot, but I suspect that the iOS version of Tone is still more reliable. Plus an iOS device gives you access to all of the audio apps on iOS; Android have very few of these because of its lack of low latency audio APIs. That doesn't affect the Tone app though, it's just a nice perk of the iOS ecosystem IMHO.

Great, thnx stratocaster1983 & I had read your earlier posts. Did my technical research prior to buying the GT200, then shock horror at the cost of a decent iAnything. Significant cost factor over the cost of the amp. ! Hence my post. Thnx Cthulhu, the iPod Touch is a lower cost contender I hadn't seen mentioned elsewhere in the forum. Really appreciate your feedback, guys.

Why leave out 50% of all serious PCs? They run on 7, and if you turn around the corner to the scientists: they run on XP.

And if you are used to real good programmers: their SW runs with everything.

Yes. First reason is, not to come out with banana-like software.

There is NO specific iPad version of the Tone app. Use the iPhone version, it works just fine, just click on the 2x option to make it fill the screen

You may have to register & login initially, however I have just tested links while not logged & they work from Melbourne Australia.

What version of iOS are you on? I know that Tone works on iOS 10 and 11; not sure about iOS 9 or 8 or earlier.

And when you search on the App Store, search for iPhone apps to find Tone. By default, the App Store on an iPad searches for iPad apps.
