Folks, is that normal that the MGT-4 footswitch has a delay between sound being changed and footswitch display updated? In other words: I press a footswitch, sound changes fairly quickly but the MGT-4 display and LED s follow about a second after?

Mine does that too, plus it will sometimes freeze and not change till i turn the data knob on the amp. Tho i must admit i don't recall it doing that since the last update. (tho i use the FS very little at home so not sure)

I have issues with the EXP1 too where the LEDs don;t change at all sometimes. I think the entire switching system in the GT is screwy. Probably a hardware issue like maybe under filtered power supply or some such thing. Otherwise it would all be fixed by now via firmware. Not a big deal for me but i would never the less like to see it all working properly.

Thanks, I appreciate your reply. I need to check the MGT-4 on my MIII v2 - I bet the switching times are a lot faster there.

They are. They switch flawlessly in every respect on the MIII except one. There was a sound delay, so if you switched presets on the fly the amp would go silent for split second. If the patch you switch too is the same model and the settings are all close it was a shorter delay. On a side note, just sold my MIII. Kinda sad to see it go after 5 years with it. (my first modeler after decades as s tube snob) But the GT is so much better after all the updates there was no reason to keep it.

Hi to all! This afternoon was the first time i plugged the mgt4 and, the reason i'm in here is the same issue, i was terrified because i play live very often and this thing can't happen! I'll try Rick Heins to get involved...

I have noticed today that the footswitch is not working, long delays before getting into the patch and then freezes, and switches are not working. Done a reset but still the same. Has anyone got the same problem. The ampli is still under garantee, I bought it less than a month ago

Did u update it? If not, do so because as i said above mine did the same thing, freezes, delays, you name it. And since last update i haven't noticed it happening at all. If you bought it and haven't updated yet that should fix it, but if your version is below 1.3.6 you will have to update it via the patch utility here... https://tone-support.fender.com/hc/en-u ... h-Utility-

You can find out what version yours is by hitting the menu button and scrolling to i believe it's called "about this amp".

You could try updating again using the force update method. It downloads the entire update instead of just the new components. That would be sure to overwrite any corrupt data.

You may be right but it has been working perfectly for almost a month, I cannot understand why at a certain point it stopped. I will check when I get back home and I will contact Thomann Germany where I bought it and see what they suggest, since they offer 30 days try out and new replacements of defective parts, and 3 years guarantee.

I dunno but i can tell you that in the past i have had mine go from working normally after updates for weeks then something happened to it. I was having a issue where the last few settings on the amp model's second page were disappearing. I did a forced update and it went away. Thats why i suggested it.

Thanks a lot, Now it seems to be working again, I contacted the seller and explained the faults, I will wait for their answer, in the meanwhile I could do what you have suggested. Do you remember the combination for that kind of resetting?
Thanks

Press and hold the data wheel button and the signal path layer button (middle one on the left of the data wheel) and turn the amp on while holding them for 5 seconds. Note it may take much longer to download and install than a regular update. All the various update methods are covered near the end of the user manual.

I haven't ever had issues with the looper having latency issues but now all of a sudden it is. Everything else like turning off an on pedals works just fine I just noticed last night for the first time since I owned the amp "Ive had this amp since it debuted" the looper is really lagging right now for some reason. Maybe ill try to re-update everything and see if it fixes it. I use the looper live sometimes and during practice so hopefully this works.

Hi Cbryand88,
Did you ever notice an improvement with your looper lag? I have a new MGT4 footswitch and am running the latest firmware but notice that I can't really get a smooth loop going. There's always a slight volume dip on the first note of the loop, whatever timing I use to press the button. It's like the first note doesn't have the same attack that the others do, so the loop always seems to have a noticeable 'join' in it.
Merry Christmas by the way!
PB
