It plugs directly into the 4-button footswitch on the older Mustangs. Does it also work with the MGT-4 footswitch? If so, does it default as a volume or wah? Or do you have to program its function into every patch?

It does work, and it defaults to whatever you set it to default to. But If you just plug it in and try it w/o setting anything i'm not sure what it defaults to because i erased all stock patches and never used it with anything but the patches i make where i set it to default to whatever i wanted in that patch. But i don't see what it matter when you can make it default to whatever u want in 10 seconds of knob twiddling.

There IS one issue with it where the LED's don't light up correctly all the time. In other words, you switch from volume to exp mode when you push the pedal switch and sometimes the LEDs don't change to reflect which mode u r in or they might even both light up at the same time. Fender sent me a new EXP when i told them about this issue but the new one did it too, so it isn't just the pedal. However, someone else said they had issues with the EXP (don't recall is it was the same issue as mine tho) and they were able to fix it by using a Y cable so that the cable from the amp splits in 2 and one goes to the exp and one to the 4 button switch. My issue won't be fixed like that tho because the issue even happens when using the EXP without the 4 button. So i can't see any reason the Y cord fix would work for the LED issue.

Thanks Dazco! I am considering the purchase mainly because I want a second expression pedal for my HeadRush. I figured the EXP-1 might be useable with both the HR and the GT-40 and thus worth grabbing.
