IF your amp is not currently at firmware version 1.3.5 or higher, you'll need to use the Patch Utility described here:

I posted this in a new topic, but not seeing it show up in the forums...maybe I did something wrong. Anyway...
I am having problems getting my gt100 to update via the patch utility. I've let it run for over an hour, on both a mac and windows pc...the software says it's working...but it never updates. Should it take this long? Am I just being impatient? Any help appreciated.

I'm having the same issue. Using the update utility to go from 1.0.38 to 1.0.39. It is taking my GT-40 forever. It has been running for 30 minutes already.

I wish I had updated my post. My problem turned out to be the mini USB cable(s) I was using. I had 2 known good working mini USB cables I use for charging my bluetooth headphones and my bluetooth speaker. Never an issue charging those devices with these cables. I got the same, everlasting, never changing update message. Looked like it was doing something, but plainly wasn't. I finally figured out I could test the cable by seeing if the Mustang GT showed up in my "audio devices" on my Macbook. It wasn't. I decided the USB port was bad on the Amp. Contacted my seller and arrangements were made for a replacement.

Then, just on a whim one day later....I decided to try one more cable. One in my car I kept for my headphones. Presto! Worked like a champ and the update was applied in less than 60 seconds. This cable is exactly like the others, but of a heavier gauge wire.

Fender will ship you a cable if you ask them. Lesson learned.

To those who's amp DO seem to connect and download and then install but never finishes, note that mine did that a few times but what i found is that if i just disconnected by turning off the amp after what i knew was way too long, i'd go into the page that shows the version and see it DID successfully update. This is a known issue from what a rep told me once so if it take a crazy long time just shut the amp down because otherwise i will infinitely go on, and when you restart the amp it will show as updated. The bug is that it updates successfully but the amp fails to go to the "update successful" page in the LCD and just looks like it;s still installing. The longest i have seen the amp take to do any sort of update or restore is maybe 15 min. If it keeps going like a 1/2 hour u can be sure it will never show as finished so it's safe to turn it off.
