I apologize if I sound a bit fussy but...

The ASIO audio driver for my Mustang III V2 is a tweaked version of ASIO4all... this is a real let down and it does not record very well with my DAWs.

Has the ASIO driver for the GT Series been rewritten to optimize the hardware and not some generic kluge?

asio just synchronizes i/o, it's up to the players to optimize the Mustang output
and the daw input for recording quality. You want a well eq'ed tone for output,
at a level safely under clipping, sent into a daw with 24 bit headroom for mastering.

Generally speaking, getting your desired sounds with hardware and
software knobs at 8 or lower, will reduce noise and promote clarity.
Cheers

http://www.asio4all.com/

There is a manual for asio4all, that might offer related
setup suggestions. I run the Mustang into Reaper daw,
hosting IK Multimedia's Amplitube 4 plugin, and am very happy with
the results.

You need all audio settings for all audio hardware and software
in your current session, to be uniform, or your cpu/dsp
will be juggling bits and bytes rather than efficiently
processing synchronized audio. A high quality audio interface
will be important in the overall success. If your computer hardware
and the Mustang hardware clocks 'drift' apart after some time,
you will have to restart the amp to get things back in sync.
The amps clock will be ticking on the computers usb bus,
so syncing to a stable high quality clock from an audio interface,
rather than motherboard chips, will be a big help. I assume the
GT's output is 48khz and 24bit.
Cheers

There is a free Amplitube Custom Shop version,
with some amp models and pedals to get started,
and an IK account offers long term benefits,
so you purchases and registrations don't get lost.
The custom shop lets you demo and buy their amp-sim gear
ala-carte, using a system of purchased credits.
Cheers

So it sounds like the new GT amps use ASIO4all
