So I have the dated nook which has long given up updating its sever. I hear there are ways to get it up to right running system but it seems kinda iffy... I also have an original iPad mini "1" and it seems like it's not going to update to the latest iPhone iOS updates along with several others. Anyone out there tech savvy enough to know if I only plan to use this tablet for my mustang and then lyrics and why not, should this be an issue for me? Or will the app eventually not update an then I'll be forced to give this one up?

I was so happy! I had the nook I had from a long time ago and seen the android system was way behind I've seen ways to update the nook to up to date sysytems to run the tone app, but I'm a little shaky to try it.... I have the ipad mini 1 given to me
Me and it work so greats with the amp so far.. that being said will any of us with the wrong iPad mini and what not, be able to use our devices with the fender app. I seen that most apps an companies want to switch for 64bit for all apps. I just don't know if that means very soon or can I still get what I need out of my mini even with tone updates coming out? It's going to be a real real real shame to have two devices "nook and I pad min 1" and having both become obsolete. When I really just want them for lyrics onstage and to control my amp!!! Any insight on this info would be great.

Or where to find an affordable tablet to use, has the android tablet users been happier with their results with the app since the firmware update? Looks like android will be the cheaper of the two tablets vs apple but I worry about functionality as I've heard since day one the apple gear runs better with the amp? And insights would be much appreciated so frustrating that I just want the most basic use out of these devices and it's a struggle because of jsut updates and companies jsut giving up An leaving the customer high An dry

If your iPad Mini 1 works with the amp and Tone now and is running at least iOS 9, then you are probably OK for the next few years with it.

Really? But won't my IPad not be able to update the fender app as it goes on? My phone would An the amp would but if fender keeps updating the tone app to 64bit will that mean the mini iPad 1st generation won't update with it? Cuz it can't update to iOS10 now it's the only one that can't which sucks for me cuz all I need an iPad for is the mustang An lyrics.... so buying a new one just for that is :/ meh especially if I'm going to keep trusting the gt100 as a gigging amp, my band is is bars An decent venues now An it's doing good now I've got things fine tuned for me, I think I would like to get like An orange combo An use that as my distortion channel An keep the MustangGt in my rig cuz it does the fender patches An a few other so well even better then the kempers on the fender patches.. I jsut feel high game
Amp heads really bring out the modeling side of the amp which I don't feel with the fender patches nearly at all An neither have people in the audience... but I need iPad on stage it helps so much manage a longer chain and use effects, I just wonder how Much longer my gen 1 iPad mini will be able to keep up with the updates of the iOS of apple An if fender updates the tone app as well

I would be surprised if Fender abandons the 32-bit iOS devices soon. The system requirements for Tone say iOS 9 or later, and they are currently producing both 32- and 64-bit iOS builds of Tone, so their build system and testing fully supports both. The fact that iOS 11 (out in a few weeks) won't support the 32-bit subsystem anymore doesn't preclude developers from continuing to sell and support 32-bit apps for older devices and older versions of iOS.

Obviously someday Fender will stop supporting 32-bit devices for Tone; however, it would be surprising if that happened in the next two years. Maybe start putting away a few dollars a week towards a new iPad, and when the 64-bit-only day hits, you'll be ready.

Cool so you think in all reality my gen 1 ipad will run the tone app updates for awhile atleast no less then a year before that becomes an issue would you say is a safe bet? I was stuck on whether to get a les paul or new amp for my rig, the band I am in is doing bar venues now and ive been wondering which route to go with first I have a strat already and always wanted a les paul to the collection, but that means for me personally I will be using the mustang gt100 as my gigging amp for awhile. It does a great I mean great job of the fender patches, I just need something more real an raw for the high gain presets at loud volumes an high gain is where is amp starts showing its analog side an I mean I bought it fully knowing that, im just wondering what to do, ive been leaning more toward keeping the mustang100 for awhile until the band actually get to more serious venues not that we aren't now, but the mustang does great when ran through a PA and in small bars I don't even need miced if the amp doesn't need pushed to hard the high gain patches sound raw an almost like real tubes. I don't even know what amp I would get to be honest I like orange but I cant stay away from fender cleans and classic Ts9 combo I just wish a fender amp could be a little bit more metal just like a notch below metal like orange and it would be the perfect amp for me. I don't play metal but I love the tight low end compressed feel of the orange gain amps, fenders are kinda like marshalls in my eyes more mids an highs with high gain, I think I am going with getting a backup guitar over new amp for now an trusting more firmware updates will bring this amp even more to the forefronts having the ipad and app working fully functional on stage is really handy! helps with such a limiting footswitch.

hopefully you are right about the ipad mini gen 1 being good for atleast a year or more still, I have to fix a cracked screen on it, but if I can get a year or more use out of it ill be happy, I also have the nook hd ive seen ways to whipe the drive on those and install the new android updates to it allowing nooks to download the tone app, I may try this as well since I have the nook sitting there its a shame cuz its gota great picture. how is the app running with androids now since the firmware update

I bought an an RCA Voyager tablet (android version 6) JUST to run the GT100, since Tone won't work with any of my older Android devices (on which virtually everything else does work fine).
Guess what, I wasted $40 more trying to get this buggy amp and Tone to work. I downloaed Tone and it will not connect with the amp even though Bluetooth on the device says they are paired. I talked to Fender tech support about it and the person I talked to could not figure out the problem. He said Fender would contact me back about it and took my email and phone #. I never heard back. So far, for this Mustang III v2 lover, the GT 100 has been total frustration.

Totally agree. The GT tones and effects are great! I did NOT expect the significant downgrade in functionality, editing and switching. If they can get those things up to the level of the v2 I will be a wholehearted endorser and supporter of the GTs.
